Q:How do you change the bits?

      Answer This Question

A:  The bits are placed in the bar end with the opening.

      by|Feb 15, 2020

A:  The bits are easy to remove - just pull it out of the bar (the bar is magnetic). Then pull the silver cap out to reveal the other bits. Grab the one that you need and simply place it in the bottom of the bar - the magnet will grab it and pull it to the bottom.

        by|Feb 28, 2020

A:  The bits slip in and out at the end of the shaft.

          by|Mar 20, 2023

A:  Hi Rich, The bits simply pull out with a quick pull. When putting in a new bit, you simply slide it in. Very easy. I love this screwdriver a lot. It ends the search for the right driver.

            by|Jun 11, 2019

A:  You have to pry up the cap at the top of the screwdriver at the risk of breaking your nails and then the bits will all fall on the ground below you. After cursing a bit you bend over, pick up the one you need, shove the others back into their sloppy slots and push the cap back down. It's a piece of crap tool which I am very sorry to have purchased.

A:  I haven't tried to use these screwdriver tips with an electric drill. I do have tips that I bought years ago specifically for use in a drill. They're high tempered steel bits designed for the amount of rpm's and heat that an electric drill puts out. I wouldn't want to advise anyone to try to use the tips that were designed for a hand held ratchet screwdriver in a high speed drill. That's not to say you couldn't try it, but if you damage a tip, that's one less tip that will work with the ratchet screwdriver. Hopes this helps.

A:  Advertised as magnetic. Not magnetic. Did not try to return.

                  Don't Drop It
As previously mentioned, the storage area barely holds the bits. In order to make them, the bits must be pushed down hard into the little holders. Unfortunately, because of the design, it's difficult to do this. Additionally, the rod holding the "cap" of the storage area is made out of plastic—which breaks easily when dropped. It looks like DeWalt (B&D) didn't bother doing a drop test or use it personally. Be careful and don't drop this screwdriver.

                    Absolute waste of money
Do not buy this product over the other brands the screwdriver dose not hold any of the bits properly and the 3rd time I dropped in on the ground the bit holder cracked in half deeming it useless and the extension dose not stay in what so ever fell out since the day I purchased it, your better of going with huski or even harbor freight over this companies decline in quality products over the past couple of years

                      Storage is useless
The design team was "too clever by half" on this one. The handle storage is pretty much useless. I can't imagine what they were thinking. When you pull the storage cartridge out, the bits go flying. And then trying to get the bit into the little holder. Why not just make a screw top with a big empty handle that you can dump all the bits in. They made it more complicated and less useful. It's going in the trash

Great Ratcheting but poor drill bits storage.
I just bought a DeWalt ratcheting screwdriver. In fact, this is my first experience with a DeWalt tool. The Ratcheting mechanism works perfectly but the drill bits storage is terrible. I puncture my fingers twice trying to put them in place, it’s like they hardly fit there.

                          Waste of money
We bought this screwdriver because we like all other DeWalt tools but this was an absolute disappointment. The bits don't stay secured in the holder. Why even have a holder? It's too bad my old one(different brand) broke it held the bits just fine and lasted years before it broke.

When I saw this in Home Depot I knew I had to have it. Perfect for the RV, has all the specialty bits, an extension and the bonus of being a ratchet. No more palm blisters. And it's a Dewalt, enough said.

The bit holder in the handle is not very functional. The bits don't fasten or stay in place. When you open the handle to change one out several of them fall on the floor. Some of the bits don't fit at all. I suggest that the material used to hold the bits to be more pliable. Maybe a rubber compound opposed to plastic. As a functioning screwdriver it's very nice. A redesign would change my rating to a five star.

I have been purchasing DeWalt products for a very long time. Reason is good quality and value. Purchased a few of these screw drivers some for gifts and for myself I kept 3 of them. Finally had a chance to use one and was extremely disappointed. For the most part the ratchet driver worked well, but my challenge was when I had to change screw bit tips trying to put back the bit into the storage part of the handle. They would not stay in place and got worse with the more bits I used - so frustrated! I took all the bits out and put them in a small zip lock bag, spent to much time looking for them when they fell out. I would return this, but I'm to far out from date of purchase. Over all I would pass on buying this driver set.

                              A year of heavy use
I bought this after I purchased my house. I have used this screwdriver everyday working on things in my garage. The ratcheting mechanism is great for tightening screws around the house. It will never replace my standard screw drivers, but for the everyday homeowner I’d say it’s a good product. My only complaints are that the shank often falls out when working at certain angles. I solved this by glueing it in permanently. Also the bit storage is utterly useless that’s not a problem for me because I have other places to store them. I think it’s made in China which is a bummer because I love supporting US manufacturing. All in all it’s a great tool!
