Questions & Answers

Do I need to buy Dewalt brand blades for this, or will other brands work as well?

Asked by Tim April 7, 2021

Hello Tim, Thank you for your question. The instructions manual advises it will work with most utility knife blades. Any standard utility knife will work.

Should the blade ever pull out when it binds with the material being during a cut? This is happen...

Asked by DewaltFanBoy May 15, 2020

No but it can

just received this knife but can't even pull the cardboard out

Asked by gordon June 21, 2019

You have to tear the cardboard right in front of the blade extender then lift and twist the cardboard pice out

How do you fold the blade back

Asked by Mohandes23 October 14, 2016

with great difficulty. The knife just doesn't work as intended

Why isn't there a video with this sku showing how to change the blade?my blade dropped into the slot and it will no come out?

Asked by Happy April 28, 2016

it wouldn't be of much use. I had to actually take the knife apart just to get the blade loaded.

How do I get the blades loaded?

Poor quality mechanics
I am on my third one of these. First one I bought about a year ago(still works great). Second one I purchased and immediately gave to a coworker, because the slide operated hard and jerky. Just purchased my third one 2 days ago thinking #2 was a fluke, turns out the 3rd is as bad if not worse to open and close blade. I am very disappointed as I like the way this knife fits the hand. Unfortunately, I won’t be dumb enough to purchase another one.

Comfortable and extremely secure
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It seems like this utility knife is extremely well made. I've taken it on a few jobs and find myself picking this one over the others. Overall it fits my had perfectly, I like the fact that I feel I have more control and stability while cutting. This came in handy for a small vinyl floor install i used it multiple time cutting vinyl and didn't need a blade change. If this product reflects the quality and durability of your other products you guys are due to have continued customer satisfaction.

Perfect grip!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this knife in a different areas such a paint, carpentry and drywall. Overall in drywall job works just amazing the grip gives you and extra comfort and super firm. I wish it has a hook at the end back of the knife so you can hook it up in your jeans. The extra storage for the blades it’s super useful at a work time, would love to see an automatic loader like other de Walt knifes styles.

Feels Really Good in the Hand!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ergonomics are outstanding on this model. Feels really good for all hand sizes. Even my fiancé likes how it feels! Only complaint is the latch where the extra razors are stored. It seems to be a little to easy to open.

Great Product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this utility knife a few weeks ago. First off I love the fact that it holds its own blades, there’s nothing worse than working in a project and stopping to look for blades. You just flip it up put your new blade in and your ready to go. I really like the grip of this knife when cutting drywall, you really have control of the cut. The blades slide in and out flawlessly with the rapid load feature. Expect nothing else but the best from Dewalt. Super happy with it!!

I just bought a pack of two , no way to load the blade without disassembling the knife. I have never seen a worse utility knife. I own a few dozen dewalt tools , I really expected better.

This is a great knife
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall good quality, very easy to use when common sense is applied. Blade change is quick and easy. I have continued to purchase Dewalt product over the years and always look forward to Adding more Dewalt tools to my Collection. Take care and pride of your tools and they will take care of you.

Quality Product
I have been using this knife for more than 2 years know as a professional carpenter. It still works the same as it did on day one. It has held up extremely well on the quality aspect, minus the normal wear and tear. I have never had any issues with inserting or removing the blades. It has worked well with both normal blades and hook blades.

Great tool
I don't know why there are so many people having issues putting a blade into this knife? Mine brand new was a bit tight but it still only took me 1.5 min to load the blade in. I own both the folding and retractable versions and love them both equally. I would go with the folding one for a solid home use utility knife; but since I do commercial construction I ended up getting the retractable version for heavy duty work like cutting copious amounts of drywall. Ignore the bad reviews because a lot of them sound like operator error!

Great Knife from Dewalt
I picked up a 2 pack of Dewalt utility knives. I have used these for years and there my preferred utility knife. First they stand out, easy to spot on my work truck. Who can't recognize Dewalts yellow on black? Easy to take apart if you ever have to. I have only had to open 1 up so far, after getting wet. I easily opened, cleaned and re-assembled.Didn't rust up either.
