Q:How do you open it for replacing the blades.
by|Nov 30, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  To replace the blade, you will push the pusher all the way forward and press the quick change button down (this is located on the left side and had an arrow), take the blade out and replace it with a new one.

Feels right, and has great leverage for cutting drywall, scraping clue, cutting boxes, etc. It has built in storage for about five spare blades. Total 6 if you count the one in the chamber. This is one I would buy again and can't leave home without.

            Absolute garbage.
I have used tools since I was a child and am nearing retirement. I have two of these knives. With the blade fully extended or any portion of being retracted the blade will not release. Tried everything that I can think of and can’t get the blades out. I got the first knife as a gift and liked it until the blade needed to be changed. Bought the second knife because it said it had improved blade replacement. Both have the same problem. There are a ton of knives out there. Avoid this one!

              great feel
Great utility knife. Best feature is the design. Allows for a tight sturdy grip which lets you put alot of force on it.

              Good ergonomic design, easily broken
I bought this product 2 weeks ago as I had to cut up and remove a carpet & general DYI projects. It works great & I was very happy with the product, then I knocked it off the counter and it fell on the kitchen floor. Apparently the back of the handle opens up to store blades (did not know that) and the hinge broke on impact with the floor. A little duct tape holds the handle together now & it is still a good knife; just looks like a getto knife instead of a nice DeWalt knife. I would recommend going with a different model of knife if you are looking to buy

                Super comfortable!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this knife for a few weeks and I was able to really put it to the test in our warehouse. The weight of the knife is very comfortable and the slight angle helps the knife fit in my hands very well. I’ve owned the older versions of this utility knife and I really enjoy all the up grades. I noticed there’s more rubber grips to secure your hand from slipping. There Isn’t any hardware you need to remove to access blades. The blade remover doesn’t ever get stuck and is easy to use. And one of the best upgrades are that they added a plastic liner where the blades are stored so the tips of the blades don’t break and the blades stay sharp when being stored.

                  Great Improvements
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The blade release is smoother and easier to actuate. The grips now have "tread" making it more stable in a gloved head. The blade storage trap door is sturdy. I am a big fan of all these up grades, however the gear loop is cheaply made and pretty much unusable. With "premium" in the name I was hoping for a metal body but this one is mostly plastic (attached pictures of old style vs new). Overall very pleased.

                    Huge improvements
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the biggest changes is the fact that the blades store in a compartment so the top piece pops up. The rubber grips make it easier when cutting so it doesn’t slip loose in your hand. I also like the little clip on the end, I like this model better than the previous version.

                      Sturdy, Comfortable Utility Knife
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really sturdy feeling utility knife, with a metal frame extending throughout the whole thing. The rubberized grip portions are well placed for a variety of handhold positions - I particularly like the thumb pad right behind the blade for extra leverage. The extending/retracting mechanism is smooth, with a stop for fully retracted, one for 1/3 extension to allow for shallower cuts, another at 2/3 extension, and one for full extension. The quick change blade lever works well so far, and is much easier than some other utility knife designs where you basically have to disassemble the knife. Speaking of which, the blade storage is really convenient too. There's a lever at the rear of the knife that pops open the waterproof compartment that holds up to 5 extra blades. There's even a rubber gasket built in to protect the spare blades from moisture and rust. I think the only complaint that I have is the spring clip on the back end of mine is a little deformed, and won't close properly on its own. I have to wiggle it into place to get it completely seated.

                        Read the directions...
I was a bit hesitant to buy this knife because so many people panned it due to the issue with inserting in unloading the blades. The first thing I did when I got my knife was take it apart. The issue with the blades is that there’s a little spring mechanism inside that needs to be engaged to hold the blade and retracted to remove the blade. That’s done with the little black lever on the side. I think the issue is that the lever does not have very positive feedback as to when it’s in the right place for the blade to be removed. You can actually push it down and get a small click, which means the locking mechanism is out of the way and the blade can be either inserted or removed. I included some pictures. For use, the knife fits nicely in the hand. It’s stable and easy to use. The blade is easily retracted. The blade is held securely and with the help of the lever on the side can be removed easily.

                          Owned For 2 Years
I have abused this knife for two years and it's the best knife I've ever owned. Don't listen to the naysayers. They are trying to remove the blade incorrectly. You have to extend the slide ALL THE WAY FORWARD and the blade comes out smoothly.
