A:  Hello, please follow below instructions. 1.To select time that you want the fixture OFF, pull up the segments. Keep or push down the segments that you want the fixture ON. 2.Each segment equals 30 minutes. 3.Rotate the timer’s dial clockwise until the arrowhead on the face points to the current time of day. Note: Date time and night time are marked on the dial. 4.Set the timer switch at the top to TIMER ON position. Note: to override the timer and use your fixture, set the timer switch to the OUTLET ON position. This will deactivate the timers control of the fixture. To reactivate the timers control, set the timers switch to TIMER ON.

    Q:If I want it set to turn off at a desired time will it stay off until I turn it back on I’m asking just because if I set it to turn off at 11 at night will it turn on again in the middle of the night or can I make it stay off until I need it at night

      A:  Yes, the plug has timer control or always on. There is a switch on the top with two options - outlet on and timer on. If you want to control the plug in timers, pull the switch to "timer on" and set your preferred times.

        Q:My timer was working fine. When daylight saving time ended this past weekend I adjusted the timer accordingly. However it turns on but will not turn off. please tell me how to fix this.

          Added to our Xmas trees - they turn on before I get in in the am and turn off at 10pm. I will be using with all of our lamps in the home. Super convenient.

            Works for me.
            This is a neat little timer. I brought 3 of them to use for Xmas lights for indoor windows. The written instructions that came with the timer was hard for me to understand. However, someone made a step by step UTube video shows how to set it up. They work great.

            One star is being generous. I was unable to push down any of the tabs either one at a time or as a group. In addition, like other mechanical small-dial timers, setting the on/off times is at best an estimate, give or take 15 or 30 minutes depending on the intervals. Took two of these Defiant models back and will not buy this brand or any others designed this way.
