Defiant Security Latch Strike Plate
The strike plate is great and helps to cover up unmatched holes from putting a new door in but the screws are junk. I had bought 2 of these and on the 1st one I had 3 screws break where the threads meet the unthreaded part and the 2nd one I had 4 screws break.

Trash screws
The supplied screws are all Trash Tier Garbage. You will regret installing these in your doorjambs as they WILL snap off, and not secure your latch plate!
I predrilled all holes about halfway since I don't have 3" long 3/32 drill bits, and I'm willing to bet you don't either. After the second one snapped off 2-2.5" in, I knew it was the screws fault. So I backed out the other 3 screws and those were snapped as well. I replaced them all with high quality screws with no issues; imagine that.

The strike/plate is very good but the included screws, although they look attractive, are very weak and the longer screws broke when being installed (installed by hand, not with a power tool). This is even with drilling 3/32" pilot holes per the instructions. After having to going back to the store to get a pack of good screws, it installed with no issues.

Our front door is more secure now
The strike is well constructed and instructions are straightforward, however based on previous reviews I used a larger drill bit. The instructions say to use 3/32 but I started with a 7/64 from a review I read. This worked fine for the 3 shorter screws but we had trouble with the longer screws because my drill bits were shorter than the screws. We ended up using a 1/8 for the long screws. We also had to widen the strike plate hole to make room for the metal piece that sits inside.

Great Product. Suggestions taken
The Defiant security latch plate fit right into the existing cutouts on two doors without any alterations except for the drilling notes provided on the package. Thanks to many previous reviews that cracked the 3-1/2 inch screws, I opted for a larger drill. Instead of a 3/32 inch drill I used a 9/64 inch drill. A #29 drill would work also. As long as you drill to 3.5 inches it's not a challenge at all.

Do not use the long screws that come with this kit
All of the long screws snapped off during installation. I predrilled all the holes with a 3/32 bit as instructed on the package. Ultimately, I bought better screws and had to install them at an angle to avoid the screws stuck an inch in the wood. Be aware this could happen to you.

Get some drywall screws while you're at it!
Don't bother using the screws that come with this kit. The plate fits 6 inch (center to center) locks too. Perfect for my needs. I did strip a screw and it was a hassle removing it. So just do yourself a favor and use better screws.
