yes
the duct is a 4" diameter oval shape
Yes it is a bit oval shape, it is not round
Check your local codes but it should if installed correctly.
No, this vent cannot be used for a range hood.
No
I don't see why not. A dryer vent gets a lot hotter than a range hood vent and they both do the same job.
For range hood you need insulated fire proof ducts and vents if you are going to route through walls. It is not safe to do that , you can do it for dryer etc.
This shows code to be 28 gauge: https://codes.iccsafe.org/content/IRC2018/chapter-15-exhaust-systems
The connecting section is provided but the exhaust section is just a straight vent. You can vent it any way you want. I did exhaust it in the same direction of the vent by using a 90 degree elbow in the attic. The picture is a little misleading. It appears to show two vent hookups but there is only one (the 90 degree piece).
I'm not sure I understand the question. The "L" shaped pipe would come out of the wall whichever direction you want it to. I used a kit that had a plastic surround that fit into the wall and it had connections on it that did not require the use of the "L" provided with the Deflecto kit. I only used the extension pipes to run the vent up the wall and out of my attic to the roof vent.
Yes, its just an oval shap instead of round. It will function just fine.
I assume you could, but it would be a very unprofessional and sloppy looking job.
Sure you could do that... are you looking to save some space? Otherwise just go with the round pipe and it would probably come out cheaper.
You absolutely could use this in your basement.
No reason that you couldn't. It would be a good idea to secure it on both sides to keep it from moving around..
Sure, if you want
Yes, It can be used in the basement. I have installed one in my house in between the walls. And I have also installed one on the exterior of a wall.
I went into a wall, down to the basement, thru the basement and outside.
