This rack is mounted directly onto the truck bed - under the lip of the truck bed, as well as being secured to the floor. please note: If there is a bedliner, modifications to the liner may be required - some people do not want to modify the bedliner. Once you are satisfied with the placement and mounting of the rack, you would secure it with self taping screws to the base of the bed.

what size is the square tubing and what holds it down?Does it clamp down on top of bed rail?
I apologize for the delay. The 07708 is made of 1.75" tubing. There is a clamp that goes under the bed rail and a base plate to mount the unit.
