Is there a practical difference between the 6 and the 9. Need one of each but only one is in stock.
    ByJun 7, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Hi Home Depot Customer, For many house number designs, the number 6 and the number 9 are identical and can be used interchangeably by rotating them 180 degrees. This is a common practice to simplify manufacturing and inventory. To confirm if this applies to the Everbilt 6 in. Matte Black Aluminum Floating or Flat Modern House Numbers, you would need to visually inspect the design of the number 6 and the number 9. If they are symmetrical and appear to be the same when rotated, then there would be no practical difference, and you could use one for the other.

How do you know if you’re getting flat or floating?
    ByMar 14, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

When installing house numbers, "flat" (also known as "flush") means the numbers sit directly against the wall or surface they are attached to. They are mounted without any space between the back of the number and the mounting surface. "Floating" (also known as "elevated") means the numbers are installed with a small space between the back of the number and the mounting surface, creating a shadow effect and a three-dimensional look. This is typically achieved using spacers that hold the number away from the wall. This Everbilt house number can be installed in either a floating or flush manner. The product includes fasteners that allow for both installation types. If you choose the floating installation, the elevated spacers can raise the numbers approximately 0.5 inches from the mounting surface. AI-generated from the text of manufacturer documentation. Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, The numbers is by scew-in,don't recommend to use the adhesive.

        By|Apr 25, 2025

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, The numbers are attached by screws, and using adhesive is not recommended.  While you can paint the black metal numbers, it won't make them magnetic. The material they are made of, zinc alloy, is not magnetic.

            Answer This Question

Yes, these house numbers are designed to be reflective, which makes them visible at night. The reflective silver finish enhances their visibility when light shines on them, such as from headlights or streetlights.

Could a 3M removable adhesive/Command strips be used on the back to install flush mount on vinyl siding?
              ByDec 1, 2024
              2 Answers |
              Answer This Question

While the included hardware allows for traditional installation methods, using 3M removable adhesive strips or Command strips is not recommended for mounting these house numbers, especially on vinyl siding. The manufacturer recommends using screws for a secure and long-lasting hold. Adhesives may not hold up over time due to weather exposure and the weight of the numbers. For a flush mount installation, use the provided screws and follow the instructions included with the product.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is, Can't use adhesive strips due to the back of number is hollow.

What is the height of the spacer? What is the elevation height?
                BySep 8, 2024
                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

The height of the spacer for the Everbilt 6 in. Matte Black Aluminum Floating or Flat Modern House Number 0 is 0.39 inches. This is also the elevation height, which is the distance the number will stand off from the mounting surface when installed. [This answer was generated by AI and verified by product experts.]

These numbers are attractive and were easy to mount. Just two minor nits, one of the numbers evidently was returned and came in a bag rather than on its cardboard card. This resulted in no template to locate the holes. The other nit is that using the cards as templates for drilling did not evenly space the numbers (we got a 1, 2, 6, and 7), with the 1 being much narrower. I ended up copying each card and the number, cutting them out, and taping them onto a quadrille (1/4") grid. This grid was then mounted to the house and used for drilling. Worked great.

                  Modern house numbers
Nice modern 8 inch house number. The size is perfect and really allows the number to be easily seen. The black finish also allows it to pop against the house. Very sturdy and durable. The font is modern. It also comes with standoffs to make them appear even more modern. Instructions are included and are easy to follow. It is not very hard to install these house numbers at all. Definitely recommend if you want that modern look.

                  Okay but not great.
Okay to install but not that reflective. The template helped but not that sturdy when installed. When headlights shine directly on numbers they are reflective but when at an angle (ie driving down road) they are not.

                    Solid & Bold
This a hefty and bold number. Easy to install but care needs to be taken in not screwing the threaded rod into the backside of the number with too much force. I hand tightened the threaded rods as far as I could and it felt like there were more turns to take so I used pliers for a better grip and turned one of them in until I felt resistance. I noticed a slight bulge on the frontside so I backed it out one turn. You are forewarned. Otherwise, a great product!

A stunning and practical addition to our exterior
Highly recommend - I am very satisfied with the 10-inch number in matte black for installation on the exterior of my home to help further identify our home address for friends, family, deliveries and especially emergency first responders. The letters pop lovely against our white vinyl siding, adding style while fulfilling a practical and meaningful purpose for the home. Easy to install and looks great. Very happy.

                      Great quality house number
Great house numbers. Nice and big where you can actually see them from the curb. (unlike the average 4-5in most people have.) Good quality. Not that they’re a moving part or something in an area that gets a lot of wear and tear. But for sunlight, weather, hot/cold, they seem good quality. Seem 100% solid, back of them is not hallow like most of the cheaper brands. Still on my “to-do list” but plan to put these on a backlit frame so they are also viewable at night. That and I have windows with changing colors that glow at night, so will further match that.
