Brought a lock set with a broken key. How can I get a duplicat?

Asked by BOB February 3, 2018

The keys come only with the locks, so the entire set would need to be replaced.

If you need a mortise lock for a left opening door, this is not the one for you.... I bought this mortise lock for a left opening door, so I had to reverse it. There were no instructions with the lock about how to do that, so I looked online and found videos for similar locks. I reversed the lock and put it in my door, but the latch kept falling back into the body when I turned the knob. So I took the lock back out of the door and went back to Home Depot (HD) where a friendly employee fixed it for me. I brought it home put it back in the door and turned the knob. Guess what... the latch fell back into the body. :-( Took the lock out again and back to HD. Same fellow fixed it again. Brought it home and put it back in the door, gently turned the knob and... you guessed it. :-(!!! The lock is going back to HD.

The specification is what i needed without having to adjust from my previous lock however, the latch seems to constantly get caught inside the face plate making it a nuisance to jimmy it out with your finger…. Also, if you have to open the mortise and reverse the latch don’t buy these… it will fail.
