Buyer Beware!
I purchased this product in Feb/22 and it lasted about 1 yr and 2 months exactly 60 days beyond the warranty period, so I was out of luck!
This machine will display an error code EC and from this moment on this dehumidifier it will no longer function properly. I contacted Customer Srv and was told because I was 60 day beyond the warranty period there was nothing they can do other than recommend a good repair tech, nearby of course. The EC code was a familiar code to the operator BUT NO RECALL

worked for 14 months, then frosted up
I chose this unit as recommended by Wirecutter, and it worked well keeping my 600 sq. ft. basement under 50%. Two months past the 1-year mark, the bottom third of the coil started frosting, making the unit ineffective. Cleaning the filter and coil for good air-flow did not help. After research, it seems that these units have a chronic issue losing refrigerant which causes the freezing. Didn't expect this to last forever, but 14 months is pitiful. I wish HD or Frigidaire would make this right.

Ice Buildup After 5 Months
Bought this dehumidifier in May of 2022. By October of 2022, it started having ice build-up on the outside of the unit. The unit was set to 45 percent humidity and running in a basement with temperatures in the high 60s. I highly doubt this is normal. I will be contacting Frigidaire to see what the next steps are.

It does remove the water from the air.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far after two weeks I will say it does it jobs good removing moisture from the air. I would like to mention it needs a stronger handle to the bucket. Plastic gets brittle over time and over 2 gallons of water is quite heavy. If you plan on using continuous draining with a hose this will never be an issue. I am worried that the small clips holding the top together or the handle will eventually break because of repeated removing the bucket full of water. I did get a hose and placed it on continuous drain and after a week of flawless draining somehow the bucket filled up even though the continuous drain light was on. I turned the button on and off and it began draining from the hose again. I will keep my eye on this. I did notice some reviews that some units got stuck on an error message light and I am wondering if the electronics may have a bug in it. Just a thought. All in all though I am pleased and would recommend this product (provided that the continuous drain feature holds its setting this time).

Great for 1 year
I received an alert that my 10 year old dehumidifier was a fire hazard. I received a coupon to purchase a new one, I bought another Frigidaire. 10 years, responsible company. Piece of crap at 14 months. $279 dollars and an error code. Green energy my butt! Just want you to buy it every year and continue to fill up the landfills.

Failed right out of the box
I ordered one from Home Depot online. It is delivered to my door 3 days later (just a few hours before I write this review). The built material looks nice. I read the user's guide, plugged in the power, and it gives me an E5 code! Returned to Home Depot.

Crawl Space Humidity Control
I purchased the Frigidaire FFAD5033W1 50-pint Dehumidifier to better control the relative humidity in my encapsulated crawl space. Before installing this unit, the % relative humidity in my crawl space was 58% - 62%. I wanted to control it in the range of 50% - 55%. Rather than purchase an expensive whole-home unit, I decided to first try out this portable unit to see how it worked at controlling the relative humidity.
The really nice feature about this Frigidaire unit is that it had a drain connection. I purchased a VCMA-20ULS Condensate Removal Pump also from Home Depot. I connected it to the dehumidifier and it pumps the water to a drain that goes to the outside of my crawl space. The entire system has been in operation for about two weeks and the relative humidity in my crawl space is now automatically controlled at a set point of 55% and no emptying of the water bucket is required! I have a continuous % relative humidity probe in my crawl space and it has consistently measured 52% - 53% at this set point. So for now, no need to buy an expensive whole home dehumidifier!

Amazingly quick delivery. Easy set up. Put up on a cart so easier to access the bucket. Since floor has a slight grade placed it so the drain end is lower. Works like a champ. Read the instructions often. Suggest they put on the outside of the shipping box in BIG letters about setting it upright and letting it sit for an hour before operating. When ours was delivered it was left sitting on its side on the porch. And cleaning the filter every two weeks is important.
