30 ft. Automatic Electric Heat Cable Kit Accessory

I used the Frost King Heat Cable on my incoming main water pipe. It comes up vertically through my basement floor. My 30-yr old water main pipe gets incredibly cold to the touch during Michigan winters to the point where I worry whether it could ever freeze. If it did, it would burst the pipe costing thousands in repairs and water damage. I plug it in during winter and although the sensor doesn't let it come on unless it detects cold, I unplug it during summer. Even when plugged in in winter, the cable never actually feels warm to the touch (I suppose it might if you put it in some snow outside to test it) but knowing it is there gives me peace of mind. In the photo, you can see I wrapped a little foil insulation around the sensor to ensure it is detecting the cold of the pipe and not the relatively warm basement air. Overall, good purchase as our homes age.

The heat cable worked perfectly! The last ice storm caused my tankless water heater mounted in my garage on an outside wall to completely freeze up, so this year I decided to be proactive. I purchased the Frost King heat cable and installed it myself after watching a few videos. I have little experience with these type of projects but it was surprisingly simple using installation tape sold separately. The heat cable worked like a charm and I had hot water during the multi-day sub-freezing temperatures. I highly recommend.

My bathroom is basically outside my home. Jan 2026 during snow storm drain pipe froze, water lines froze. Thank goodness non burst. But I knew I needed to solve this problem. So i opened up the floor, layed down on my stomac and reached into an area of dirt, concrete and wool. I bought the 27ft roll and used electrical tape and sometimes zips ties on (but electrical tape with zip tie directly on top of the tape.) After install I closed up floor and plugged it into my basement outlet. And I got nothing. So i saw a video where a woman used an icelack on the thermostat to make it come one. So instead i literally sat it in my basment window close to the dryer vent as possible. Where it is definitely nothing but cold air coming in. I waited a while and then touched wire and it was warm to fhe touch. I thought fir sure I had bought a faulty one, but so glad i moved thermostat to colder area. I then taped it to the cold duct. But I need to find another location since i will eventually turn on the dryer on.

I bought this thinking it would solve my water line for my refrigerator from freezing.. the water line is on an exterior wall which is bumped out with a soffit. (I plan on insulating come spring) The design has the thermostat near the plug instead of at the end where it's needed since I fished it along the flex water line and plugged it in inside along with my refrigerator outlet where it's a comfy 70°, meaning it won't activate the heat feature......... waste of time and money.

Easy to install and gives me peace of mind that we won't have frozen and burst water pipes in the crawl space again. I installed this per the manufacturer's instructions with the black thermostat piece against the pipe, and the cable run along the bottom of the pipe (heat rises), with no overlaps of the cable to avoid hot spots. Then wrapped the pipe with fiberglass insulation to keep in the heat. Some say you can use foam pipe insulation, but I wanted to be safe and go with something that will not melt and cause fire in case the cable gets too hot. The thermostat should turn the cable on and off as needed to keep the pipe above 50 degrees and well away from freezing. The plug lights up to show there is power, but it would be nice to have a different colored light to show when the heat cable is on as well.

Used in Colorado cold to keep my RV hose from freezing the water. It works extremely well. I enjoy the light showing it works, and that it only uses electricity to power it when it reaches a certain low temperature. I use this in conjunction with fiberglass insulation (by Frost King) and some foam. This has surpassed my expectations.

This product was exactly what I needed during extreme low temperatures for our furnace condensate line that kept freezing.

My water pipes in Tx. have frozen several times already this winter so i installed this under my home myself (58 yr old female) using electrical tape. A easy install especially after watching the HD video. I tested it first to make sure the light worked before installing it, then i wrapped it with the Frost King insulation. This is a "NEED" if you live in a manufactured home because even my neighbor whose had a manufactured home for 20+ yrs has had to install 1 now.

Website description is deceiving. The packaging says this is "Water Pipe Heating Cable," not the kind of cable that can be put in a gutter to keep in unfrozen as "Electric Heat Cable"might imply. The problem is that the thermostat is like a button that needs to be held against a pipe, so it can monitor temperature and turn on and off. This type of thermostat will not reliably work based on air temperature. I suppose if you put the cable in a gutter and that section of the gutter near the thermostat iced up, the thermostat would turn on. But what if the icing is somewhere else along the 30 ft cable? No heat. This is why some people are saying it worked one year, but not the next. I called the manufacturer and they said they would work with Home Depot to fix the reviews. If you look at the picture of the box (below), you're wondering how I made the mistake to buy this, thinking I could put it in my frozen gutters? Two words: Curbside pickup. I urgently ordered it based on the description of the item (there is no picture of the package on the website).
