I'm not sure. I suggest that you have contact your local Home Depot Kitchen and Bath professional. Or the manufacturer may be able to help!
Michael@GEA, The XWFE is a long filter with very thick locking tabs. It is not the one that is currently used in the refrigerator. The one currently installed in the refrigerator is definitely a MWF type filter (see picture attached). However, the current filter has a step-up portion with enlarged diameter on the top of the connector, while the MWF filter Purchased is a just straight tube. Therefore it does not match shape of the connector from the refrigerator side and can’t go all the way up to lock in with the refrigerator.
I've used these for about 13 years now and have not had any problems like this. I do run about 3 gallons of water through the new filter to flush the new filter as well as the water reservoir in the Frigid. You may want to flush some more if it doesn't clear up, it's probably a defective filter.
We bought one and it did take a bit of patience to get it on. It was tighter than the last one but it finally went on. No extra parts were needed.
Hello Jay - Thank you for your question; we are happy to help! You will need the MWFP replacement water filter for your refrigerator model. We are glad you checked! Olga
Hi GL - Thanks for choosing GE! The current filter is now the MWFP or XWF (on select models manufactured after June 2018). Also, XWFE replaces XWF and compatible with all refrigerators using XWF. So that we can better assist you, please provide the model/serial numbers of your refrigerator or check the Use and Care Manual for your particular model refrigerator. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com! Sue
I only use mwf and very happy with them. Not really familiar with fmg
Tricky lining up the arrows and locking it without screwing too tightly but I finally got it. It shipped really quickly and arrived in excellent condition.
Hi Tony, Based on the chart on pg. 2 of the filter's Owner's Manual, we are not seeing that this particular substance is filtered. However, should you want to see what is filtered through this device, you can view the Owner's Manual here: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/5f/5f4c043e-c79b-4cc5-a697-f3f523bd3a57.pdf - We hope that this helped! Thank you very much for your question. -Michael
