Questions & Answers

can this use it as, timer to control bath fan and on/off for light?

can this use it as, timer to control bath fan and on/off for light?
Asked by: sam
I've installed four of these timers in my home. The standard installation will turn on the light with the fan, but you can't turn on the light by itself without the fan on as they will both come on together. However, I didn't want the light to come on with the fan in two of my bathrooms or the laundry room, so I had my electrician install three of them without the light wire connected. I would not recommend trying to do this yourself, but would suggest also hiring a professional to install it for you.

Is the countdown audible
Asked by: Rick
No, the countdown is not audible. I've got 4 of these installed in my home, and really like them. The only thing is, the LED indicator comes on for a second when you choose your time; 5 min, 15 min etc, but it does not stay lit next to the "time", even though on the instructions it says it does. All four of my timers do this, and I had my electrician check it out, and we finally determined that this is how the timers are built. Still a great product.

I need to vent a space where I keep batteries in an RV. I want the fan to run for 5 minutes and then be off for 15 minutes or 30 minutes. Will this device work?
Asked by: Sam
I bought two of these timers. I am pretty handy and have done a lot of work on my rent houses, but the electrical connection needed was somewhat different than the standard connection - the same that powered the lights in my bathrooms - that was available in my 55-year-old house, so I had an electrician install them for me. They work very well . . . you merely press the button marked 5 Min, 15 Min, 30 Min, 50 Min, 2 Hour, or 4 Hour, and they do a good job of venting odors and dampness out of the bathrooms, and so far, no problems.. I didn't see any documentation that led me to believe that they would turn themselves off and back on after a specified time. If it does that, I would find it interesting, but I don't really need that feature.
