WILL THIS WORK WITH AN LG REFRIGERATOR MODEL NUMBER LDC22720? Does it come with mounting hardware? Do you unscrew the filter to teplace?

This is just the replacement filter. You need to buy the complete filter kit.

Is this a replacement for the GXRLQR filter? Will it fit an older G.E. SmartWater system base.

The order came to my house quickly and these FQK1K filters are correct for my GE GX1S50F Smartwater filter system. The old manual said to use a GXRLQR replacement filter, but they are no longer available. The water is clear and tastes good. I've only had it a couple days.

This FQK1K is supposedly the original GXRLQR's replacement filter (same threads) but it is not the same as the original. It is a real GE filter but the quality of this new one seems lower while maintaining the high $35 price tag. The original says Made In USA on it, the new says Made In Taiwan. The old one is printed on the body while the new one just has GE stickers slapped on. The body isn't evenly bonded to the cap on 2 axis. The original had 16 separate little flow holes inside to distribute internal flow but this new one only has 2 little slots. It has an o-ring inside which the original did not. When shaken the new type knocks around inside while the original did not make any sound and felt firm & solid. The original one is 340 grams (used) and 8.5"x 2" while the new one is 357 grams (unused) and 9.75"x 2.25". The original spec for the system purchased is 0.9gpm while this new one's spec is 0.6gpm but actually outputs exactly a measely 0.5gpm, and surely to decrease more over time. 0.5gpm is way too slow to fill pitchers and pots for cooking, etc and not the flow rate the system was purchased for. Almost as slow as an RO pure water system removing everything... along with necessary minerals!? The original said 6 months or 750 gallons capacity while this one says 6 months or 150 gallons. Time statements are pointless. Track usage or put a 1/4 push fitting flow meter to audit these guys for sure. Usually just go until flow is decreased, but this new type flow sucks from the get-go so now what? The old type was usable for 12 months on SoCal city water with acceptable flow decrease that still greatly surpassed a fresh new model. If you want actual GXRLQR then manufacturer at GEapplianceparts still shows the original filter type/body for sale for the same price with free shipping. Or even better is other branded NSF certified replacements for 1/2 the price of GE. Note however, the original said NSF 42/53 certified, while this new one also has NSF 401 for 15 more emerging chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and -cides now found in the water supply. Curiously this new NSF 401 cert is not highlighted in marketing materials at all and only in fine print. That doesn't make sense unless you consider that they don't want to bring attention to something, maybe the increasing futility of buying expensive filters that can only filter dozens of chemicals out of thousands now found in water supplies.

I use this filter for my ice cube maker. It does the job but the water is ok to begin with. I don’t use a lot of ice cubes so I look at the filter as a little extra protection.
