The GHOST CONTROLS AXWK Premium Wireless Keypad is the superior gateway to your automatic gate opener system and provides unprecedented leading-edge control and features. This weatherproof outdoor keypad is more than just an access point for visitors to your home or property. The unique keypad design and special keys also provide the ability for you to activate or deactivate unique features for your system such as PartyMode, 1-Key, PartyMode Secure, gate controller battery status and VacationMode. Our battery-powered keypad requires a remote transmitter to already be programmed into your system so that it can easily be learned into your gate controller. Once the gate controller has learned your keypad, you can then easily access using dedicated keys, additional features not available on other competitor automatic gate opener keypads, like PartyMode, PartyMode Secure and VacationMode. For added convenience, the keypads are designed for direct installation on the AXGN Outdoor Mounting Pedestal or may be easily mounted to any flat wood or metal surface such as a 4 in. x 4 in. wood post with the included hardware pack. Some customers may choose to install a keypad on each side of the gate so that entry or exit from either direction can access a keypad to activate the gate opener system.

Q:If you use the keypad to open the gate does the gate then close behind you? Or does each family member need a remote anyway for opening and then closing?
by|Aug 3, 2022
Answer This Question
A: If you enable AutoClose on the control board, then the gate will close at your predetermined time, no matter what device is used to open it. You can also use a remote to open/close the gate, or a wired pushbutton, or a vehicle sensor (only opens).

Seeing as we live several hundred feet from the main road, being able to allow visitors, freight deliveries, and the occasional utility repair person in was a pain at times. With this keypad, authorized persons can gain entry without us having to drive to the gate to open it for them. Another big advantage is that we can give the code to our 911 emergency dispatch center to pass on to emergency crews if the need should arise.
Best accessory ever for Ghost Controls Gate Openers!!!
The Ghost Controls Accessory Keypad is awesome. It adds two features that are fantastic. First, 1-key opening is just that—press any number button and SEND and the gate will open. I have people return items to my side yard behind the gate for security reasons. All I have to do if I am not around to receive the item, is text them to say “Hit 1 and SEND and the gate will open, and put the item on the ground, then exit within XX minutes before the gate closes. Thanks!” I set my auto-close time to five minutes so they don’t get nervous and drop stuff on the ground for fear of being locked in.
Second, it allows my kids to open the gate without having a remote to keep track of in their backpack, and without touching the black metal gate that is in the sun all day every day—things get so hot here in AZ, so not having to touch anything metal is a great safety upgrade. They each have their own code, so if my son gives his code out to a friend to drop off his bike, we can change his code and the first one is turned off. Plus the keypad looks cool. You can get a mounting pedestal for it, and it’s very well made and has a nice coat of black paint. I am not using the pedestal, but if it were for a driveway gate it’s a must to get the keypad out to easy-reach range of the driver.
If I could add a feature, it would be to build in Z-Wave or Zigbee so that it would work with my home automation platform. That way the gate opening could trigger a light, or a notification to my phone. Moreover, I could manage the codes from my phone instead of programming the codes at the keypad. I’m hard of hearing, so I can’t hear the beeps that tell me if a code registers, so an app or integration into a HA platform would be a brilliant addition to an already excellent product.
We love the Ghost automatic gate opener, but since the solar powered version doesn't need any connection to the house, how do we let friends and family in when they come to visit? Well, this key pad is the solution, we just tell friends and family the code and they can drive up to the house, no problem.
Te keypad is wireless, so no wiring needed. The installation and pairing was easy with the supplied instructions.
The Premium Weather Resistant Wireless Keypad for Automatic Gate Openers can be mounted directly to a flat surface, or with the optional pedestal mount kit 'AXGN' (also available at Home Depot). The opener supports up to 20 access PINs (including a master access PIN).
You can only choose PINs of 4 digits in length.
Pairing the keypad is super easy and takes less than a minute (full instructions are in the user manual).
The keypad takes 2 "C" cell batteries (not provided) which can be changed by removing two small philips head screws on the base of the keypad.
As well as normal entry, the keypad supports "Party Mode" that keeps the gate open to allow access to property for a set time' "PARTYMODE SECURE® AND 1KEY" that allows any guest to use any number button and send button to operate gate to allow access; and "VACATIONMODE®" that keeps the gate closed with NO access to property (only the Master PIN can be used to turn this on or off).
My one complaint is the need to use the "SEND" key after you enter the code. As all codes must be 4 digits, it seems like the code should be sent after the 4th digit is entered. My other brand gate openers all work this way,
Construction is all plastic.
Great Wireless Keypad but It Could Use Better Instructions
When I ordered the Ghost Controls Automatic Gate Opener, I didn't think I would have any use for this remote keypad device since I would have two gate opener transmitters -- one each for my wife and myself. It hadn't dawned on me at the time that other people might need to enter the property who wouldn't have a remote transmitter to open the gate, such as my maintenance man and UPS or Fedex delivery trucks. So, I am happy that I got this remote keypad (along with the mounting pedestal).
My first thought when I opened the package and saw that it was all black plastic was that it would never survive in the sun and heat of southern New Mexico. But then I read that it is made of ABS plastic -- the same stuff my drain pipes are made of and they have laid out in the sun for years with little or no deterioration. So I decided that it will probably be as durable and weather-resistant as advertised.
It takes two C-cell batteries to operate the keypad. It's nice that it doesn't require running a separate power source to the keypad location, but I wonder how long the batteries will last? I guess, to some extent, that will depend on how often the keypad is used and the weather conditions. I suspect I'll need to replace them at least once a year or whenever the keypad stops opening the gate.
One feature I really like is that the keys on the keypad are lighted and color coded: the numeric keys and SEND button are red, the PARTY MODE button is blue, the SECURE PARTY MODE/1-KEY button is green, and the VACATION MODE button is yellow. The lights only come on when a key is pressed, so they don't run down the battery.
Now, when I read about this keypad, I thought what the heck is PARTY MODE, VACATION MODE, etc.? In PARTY MODE, the gate opens and stays open until the master PIN code is used to close it. That way, you don't have to keep opening and closing the gate when guests arrive and depart. SECURE PARTY MODE/1-KEY leaves the gate closed but only requires your guests to press a single numeric key and the SEND button to open or close the gate. VACATION MODE is like the opposite of PARTY MODE: it keeps the gate closed continually until you override it with the master PIN code. To enable and cancel these various special modes, you press the appropriate mode button, enter your master PIN code, and press the SEND button. It's not very clearly explained in the instructions, but these mode commands apparently toggle the desired mode on or off.
The keypad accepts up to 20 different 4-digit PIN codes -- 1 master PIN code plus 19 others. The other PIN codes can be permanent until you delete them or they can be set to expire in a specified number of days or after a certain number of uses. This can be handy if you have say a contractor who'll need access to the property for a given period of time after which his PIN code will expire automatically. One note here -- the keypad only allows two digits for the number of days or uses of a temporary PIN code, so the maximum number you can enter is 99 days/uses.
Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the quality of all the Ghost Controls gate opener products I've ordered. The only thing that kept me from giving this item 5 stars is the one-sheet 8-1/2 x 11 black on white user manual. The printed version of the manual that came with the keypad contains an error in the SECURE PARTY MODE/1-KEY programming instructions: it refers to an ENTER key that is non-existent. I believe they meant the SEND button.
An improved version of the manual is available as a PDF file online at the Ghost Controls website. The link to it from the Home Depot website just returns a message that an error occurred that prevents them from displaying that page. It would be helpful if the programming instructions included the colored symbols for the PARTY, SECURE PARTY, and VACATION buttons. A four-color printed Assembly & User manual in a larger typeface would be much appreciated by us older consumers whose eyes aren't what they used to be.
I got the Ghost Control Gate Opener, and originally was not sure I was going to get the Keypad. I figured if I was home, I could open the gate myself. If I am not home, not sure I want to be giving my code to numerous people ... Once I got it, and read the directions, this clearly is more than a dumb Keypad. It adds numerous features. Once you program your Master Code, it lets you set up to 19 other codes; which you can delete, or set a number of days limit on, or set a number of uses limit on.
Being wireless, it was easy to install and set up. No wires to run, and just follow the syncing video (see video). I mounted it on the Ghost Pedestal, which I think makes it much nicer (see my review). It has a 2 year warranty
The negatives ... it takes 2 C batteries (which are not included). So, I had to make a trip to Home Depot to buy some. It is easy to set up and program, but it is not intuitive. You really need the directions each time you program it. So, keep those handy (see pic).
Bottom line ... the Keypad lets people know, this property owner takes his security seriously.
No wiring required.
I really like this product and the fact that is weather resistance and it can be programmed with as many as 20 different access codes so you can give to people that require access a code that is unique to them and when they finish the job you can delete that code. It also has the ability to store codes that can only be used the number of times that you specify, this is a great feature if you need to give a code to a contractor or delivery company that only needs access a one or few times. The instructions were easy to follow and programming the unit was easy. If you have a remote that is already programmed with the opener code you can use the remote to load the opener code into the key pad. I got this unit to use with a single gate opener, but it can operate with double gate to. If you have party going on just press the party button (you need a code) and gate will stay open for your guest until you close it, this future is really good I like it. Overall I am very impressed with the products made by Ghost Controls.
