What wattage is needed to runa table saw

Asked by Sissy December 21, 2020

To determine the wattage needed to power the device we will first need to know the wattage rating of the device and the estimated time of use. Please reach out to support@grapesolar.com for assistance in sizing a system.

Are the panels Made in USA ?

Asked by Dan July 30, 2020

Answer

The 50W panels are foreign-made. Our 190W and 300W are our current domestic-made panels.

Can I add more 50 watt panels later if needed?

Battery recommendations

The battery specifications are: All batteries used for this system should be identical. Batteries must be deep cycle. Do not mix battery types or sizes. Do not mix old batteries with new batteries. Performance and charging anomalies can occur if types, sizes, or age of batteries are not identical.

I was looking to run my pellet stove, about 5 amp draw. What would I need?

Asked by El10 July 17, 2018

Answer

It depends on the number of hours you run your stove, the months you need to run, and your location. Results vary. Contact Grape Solar support if you need help doing these kinds of calculations.

We recommend using the largest you possibly can, in other words, the largest terminals with the largest gauge wire that will fit in them.(copper stranded, of course). 2/0 or even 1/0. Using the largest size you can will ensure the resistance and voltage drop between the batteries is at the absolute minimum. That will give more even charging and discharge, more even battery wear, and better battery performance.

Is this a Monochrystailine or Poly?

Answer

The optimum size battery bank is usually between 75 and 150ah of total capacity with this kit. If you go larger than that, be sure that you have enough solar energy available so the controller can bring your batteries into float no less than once per week. You may have up to 3 batteries with the same capacity, age, and manufacturer connected in parallel.

The panels have arrived, and nothing is broken that I can tell. I bought the kit so I'd have all the cabling and branch connectors. That part of the kit has NOT arrived yet. HD shows I received the "kit." I received three boxes, each with one 50w panel. We're still discussing this. The panels are unusable without the cabling. I ordered a separate MPPT charge controller, also Grape Solar, and was hoping to use the PWM charger on a different setup, so I'm not held up by that part of the kit. But I need the MC4 branch connectors and cabling to combine the DC output from the panels and get it to the controller. I hate to think I'm going to have to purchase separate cabling. There doesn't seem to be anybody who carries them as an "off the shelf" item. You can't walk into the "solar store" and grab a couple. At least, not where I live. I look forward to updating this review.

Panels work very well.
I'm giving 4 stars because I'm still not sure if controller is truly reading the battery or the power generated from panels. My battery reached 63% on one occasion and 57% on another. As soon as I connected the panels, the battery said 100% @ 14.3V. Other than that, I love the system.

Everything was in the kit as advertised. However better instructions would have been nice. Also the wire connections points on the back of the control unit were too small to fit the wire alone and I had to file off the outer edges of the eye connectors I ended up using. Other than that everything is fine.

A good way to power up your garage or shed. It is a simple project to help you and the environment out! Just use 12 volt lighting (LED strips) or find 12 volt LED lights at the automotive store. One thing - if the battery goes too low (11.5 volts), it will shut off the load - It could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on you application
