newer lock bullets don’t work. kit is defective
The lock bullets that come with the kit cannot be held by the lock bodies that are included. It seems like they changed the shape of the lock bullet and didnt update the lock body they include in the kit. Weirdly the lock body does hold lock bullets from older security bars. Now the lock bodies are permanently secured to my window with nonreversing screws and I have no way of securing the new security bars. Also, Grisham’s phone number is disconnected. Are they out of business? Do not buy unless you want to do permanent damage to your house

Just finished installation (on a 100+ year old house), luckily there were studs right behind the window frame, so ended mounting on the window frame (as all the other bars were installed on the house when I purchased it). The parts seem a little flimsy, but it's pretty cheap so, it is expected.
You will need a longer 1/2" bit than what is suggested (6") in most cases (I used a 12" bit) to make it all the way through the outer/inner wall.
The instructions are very vague, but luckily there's a YouTube video complete with robo voice essentially reading the vague instruction book, but it has video examples of each step which is worth a thousand words. If I had to do again, it would take half the time.

I have purchased and installed several of these security window bar sets. By code they are required to have a quick release installed also. The bars themselves are fine. There are a couple problems with these:First, the window bar supports fit very sloppily. When you assemble them they hang and droop, making a poor fit installation. Also, that makes it very difficult to align the opposite side supports and the quick release apparatus. If you are doing 2 windows it sags a ridiculous amount. It sags so much that the quick release binds and will not release. I had to drill and srcew the supports into place, which is a major pain in the butt.Second, aside from being a sloppy, loose joint when assembled to the bars, the quick release mushroom headed locking mechanism will NOT fully penetrate the locking plate hole. The flange around the head prohibits it from going into the hole deep enough to securely lock in. I have had to cut that flange off to allow the head to penetrate deep enough. Pretty crappy when you pay that much for the quick release kit. These are the only units that I've seen for sale, unfortunately. They are well made, but are very poorly designed.
