AnswersThe batteries are located in the base of the light there is a plastic clip which you remove to access the battery compartment make sure you install them correctly the negative side goes on the spring .

AnswersIt has 2 different size bottom caps attached together. You can remove the smaller one. The bigger one would fit 4×4 vinyl post. If not you can always return it to home depot.

AnswersThe caps are thin plastic but I suppose may be adhered using construction or landscaping adhesive. Mounting is not required for functionality.

The Bad: I ordered 30 and only 28 worked. Tried calling Home Depot Customer Service 3 times and was told I had a 30 minute plus wait time each time. The first time I did wait - 37 minutes and gave up. I then decided that I would order 2 more and return the bad ones to the store, only to find out they are not available.
The Good: Easy to assemble and install. Light brightness is perfect, and on sunny days the charge will run the light from dusk to dawn. On rainy, overcast days, not so long.
Bottom line: I love these lights and would have given them 5 stars if I could have replaced the 2 bad ones.

Did not fit my standard 6x6 wooden post from Home Depot. It was exactly the same size as the post but no wiggle room to get it to slip over the wooden post. You will need to slightly trip the top of your wooden post to get it to slip on. The glow from this lights is pretty but not very bright. Similar to a candle.

The package of the Solar Copper Outdoor LED Post Light contains 2 lights which can fit either a 4x4 or 6x6 post. These lights produce a nice warm light all night long once the battery gets fully charged. My previous set finally gave up the ghost, these are easy to mount.

I love these post lights! They were very affordable and I liked the look of the copper. I wasn't certain how bright they would shine or how long they would give off light, but they actually do a great job of it! Do they shine "all" night? No. But they do shine (well, mine do at least) for at least 6 hours and for a solar light, I think that's impressive.
As a second benefit, I like how this light comes with two bases to choose from - depending on the size of the post it will go onto. I have railing on a deck on the back of my house and used the large bases for those lights; on the front of my house I have wooden steps, porch, rails and I was able to use the smaller base on those posts.
So yes, I would recommend these lights to anyone. :)

The item being reviewed has only been in use for about 1 month. Too early to tell for reliability or solar charging problems; rating will change based on how well they last during winter. Reasonably priced. Comes with common WOOD post sized bases for 6x6 & 4x4 posts. Made for a very attractive look: an intermediate deck stair landing with 6 x 6 posts, and 4x4 newel posts at the base of the stairs. The light is about the same as you get from any of the little solar walk way lamps. Enough light, but just enough. Unlike the path way lamps, these will be in your line of sight, so keep that in mind if that is a concern. They are NOT downward facing shielded lights (I know, pretty obvious, just stating it). I have a mild concern as winter digs in that one lamp will not get enough light during the day due to its location (upper stair hides the morning sun, south facing landing hides the midday & most of the afternoon sun). Time will tell.
I had a couple of the battery doors not latch completely, and had to remove the lights and reseat the battery and door. No big deal, just what happened.

These replaced solar lights. I was really frustrated with. Hope these will outperform those. Installation was easy. The weak point are the base lips where top attaches. The plastic is super easy to break, which the first one did on me, so I cut the 6x6 one to fir my 4x4 post. Price beat what we paid for the old ones. Jury is still out on solar gadgets like these in my book. Lol I
