WHAT is the factory RATED strength...bicycles and the platforms they sit on weight something, so, where is rated load...site only shows "ZERO" weight...actual numbers please
Asked by: WildBill
The hitch (purchased and installed at U-Haul) is rated to PULL a certain amount of weight (maybe 3000 lbs?). This item is a foot-long or so steel hitch EXTENSION used to position a platform or bike rack a little further away from the back of the car (to clear opening hatches and/or spare tires). The manufacturer says that the hitch extension should carry no more than 250 pounds (total weight of bike rack and bikes). Its not designed to PULL a trailer. Its made by a company called Heininger. You can call them for more details.

How does the anti wobble system work? Will there be noticeable wobble when I attach my bike rack?

Asked by: Manorranger
Not sure how it works, but it did not wobble when I had two adult bikes about 35 lbs each on it. Some bike racks have anti-wobble devices as well, so you want anti wobble on both the rack and the extension.

What is the tow weight max load?

Asked by: Jeff3797
The instructions say to NOT TOW anything using the HitchMate Extension. It is designed only for bike racks which need extra clearance from the rear of the car to avoid spare tires, opening hatches, etc.
