Is 6 inches TOTAL height or height of side walls?

Asked by: GeorgeH
The 2 ends are 6 inches but that makes the sides, and tool area, about 3 inches high. A good pencil or pen storage area? A loose change compartment? A dinning table napkin holder? Lots of good ideas come to mind, but not tools.

What I found in one kit was that the lumber was so rough it looked as if it had never seen a sander or sandpaper before. Some pieces of the lumber had knots in them. The piece of pressed hardboard that is the bottom of the tool kit was oversized on all three kits and had to be trimmed down for the sides to be able to match up to the ends to the sidesThe instructions say that minor sanding should be done on the edges of each board. For the price of these kits, all lumber should be knot free and sanded on every edge. I will not buy these types of kits from Houseworks again

One kit came without a dowel. I thought the holes would be predrilled but no. The boys had a hard time. I will never buy thes kits again.

Of the three ordered, one had no nails and the other two had six of the eight nails needed. Nails are very skinny finishing nails. The predrilled holes did not go all the way through the top pieces of lumber making it difficult to to get the nails started in straight. The edges of some of the lumber pieces were really rough. I ended up nailing the boxes and even so one nail managed to break through the side of each box.

My 8 year-old was able to do some of the steps alone but needed help with some of the nails. It did not turn out perfectly because it's hard for a little kid to hold pieces upright and hammer straight up and down simultaneously

Nothing was premarked or had holes drilled, and the handle doesn’t fit properly. We got these to make as an activity for a building themed birthday party with nine year olds who have done plenty of build your own kits before, and it was a nightm

The nails were cheap and so the effort required to get them through the holes often bent them. Since there were slots for the bottom board it was easy to get them out of alignment. Avoid at all costs.

The kids at my Tool Man party had a blast but I was disappointed that the nails provided in this kit weren’t as good a quality that we’re used to in the Home Depot Kids Workshop kits. They didn’t have a head and they easily broke or bent. Thankfully, this Mom has spare nails in here shop.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I bought 5 kits for a Cub Scout project. ... I bought 5 kits for a Cub Scout project. All kits were missing two nails. The fit of the dowel handle isn't very good. We ended up gluing and screwing the dowel in place to keep it from falling out. Everything else was fine. There are dimples where the nails need to go which is great.
