A: 4 inches at bare minimum
A: I think 3/8
A: PPAT: So far I haven't had to work in that close of surroundings. I like to have at least couple of inches out from the wall, about 1/2" for the tool thickness and the rest is for my fingers. I hope that helps, Hank
A: With the handle in my hand the distance from the cutting wheel to the furthest point on the tool, the tip of the red adjusting knob, is about 1 3/4 in.
A: About an inch, Certainly less than two inches. The handle stays in front of the pipe and ratchets. The cutter itself goes all the way around the tube but the handle stays in front. While this is a great concept, it did not work for me. Personally, I recommend the Lenox 14833TSK (Tight space Kit) or similar tubing cutters when space is at a premium.
A: No
A: No. Get PVC/plastic cutters. Abs, pvc tubing is a cinch to cut with the cutters that look like scissors and takes 10 seconds. Just a blade with progressive force.
A: John: I would pass that one on to the manufacturer as I've only used it to cut copper and aluminum tubing . I wouldn't doubt that it would work on PVC but I have a couple of regular pliers type PVC pipe cutters you can find in any Home Depot plumbing department that work very well on PVC. I hope that helps, Hank
A: This should be able to cut pvc although I haven't used it for that myself. It's is a pretty standard pipe cutter with a handle.
A: Yes.
A: No, this cutter doesn't cut steel.
A: NO. It is not made for that. Note the description.
A: No. This is designed for soft metal, like copper pipes. Black (steel) pipe has to be cut AND threaded on a special machine (usually available at your Home Depot). Check with your local building department as many locales do not allow black pipe for potable water.
A: Unfortunately no, this is meant for softer metals such as copper
A: Seika: I would ask the manufacturer as they claim it's for copper and aluminum tubing, not pipe. I've worked with black steel water pipe before and I think you might be exceeding the design parameters of the tubing cutter. For one thing black pipe would be a lot thicker. I hope this helps. Hank
