Can it cut pipe under 2 inches ? Like 1/12 to 3/4

Answer This Question

It can Randy but it doesn't "seat well" in the groove for a smooth straight cut. We recommend the 1 1/4 PVC cutter for the smaller cuts

              very disappointed
Bought this to cut 2 inch PVC , first time I used it and the pipe shattered half way through cutting it. Very disappointed . Don't recommend on 2 inch pipe.

Worked well for around 5 cuts to 1 1/2 sch 40 pipes. Then the blade just broke. Bought yesterday.

                  Junk
Professional plber here. I have had 3 different cutters in rapid succession due to the poor quality in manufacturing. These new "polymer" frames are complete trash. Unreliable, unsafe, and unimpressive. The mechanism to open the cutters is prone to failure. They don't cut particularly straight. I have cut myself numerous times on the blade trying to get them to open fully. A sorry replacment for the older metal.framed cutters

Ok for smaller plastic pipes and in tight spaces, terrible for 2" plastic pipes
This is ok for smaller diameter PVC pipe, like 3/4” or 1”, but definitely not 2”. The blade flexes and wanders way too much for 2” PVC pipe, and you end up with a crooked cut. It works ok for 1-1/2” PVC pipe. Use these style of cutters if you’re in a tight space or are using small diameter pipes, otherwise just cut the pipes on a chop saw like a man and get on with your life. I’ve used these to cut DWV pipe, water supply pipe, gas pipe, conduit, etc.

                      not square cuts.
Disappointing, not 90° cuts, cuts like 1/4 off, does cut easily (1-1/2” schedule 40),

                        Disappointing
Disappointing, not 90° cuts, can crack pipe, does cut easily (1-1/2” schedule 40), but blade bends so I got a 79° cut instead of 90°, it cracked an older pipe, I was afraid to use it on a irrigation pipe repair because I worried after testing it that it would crack the pipe lengthwise.

Breaks pipe as often as cutting
Agree with other reviews. The tool isn’t great at cutting 2”. If you walk the cutting edge around and make several small cuts it worked ok. If you just go at it with one attempt, often breaks the pipe which then causes blade damage. Even chipped the tip off. I had such high hopes but returned it.

This started off as a great pvc cutter, but after a year or so, i am now getting crooked cuts. The blade is wobbling and I haven't used it that much; less than 30 cuts. I will have to change blades to see if it is dull or if the hinge is worn. This happens in the middle of a long pipe as well as close to the edge
