Hi Elliot, Thank you for your question! The 50‑ft 5-Socket Cage String Light is designed for temporary use and can safely be linked with up to four sets to extend your lighting run. Each socket supports a maximum 150 W incandescent or 20 W LED bulb, with a total maximum wattage of 1500–1875 W depending on the bulbs used. For safe use, make sure the string is fully unwound, bulbs are installed before connecting to power, and the lights are kept away from water, children, and pets. For additional guidance, detailed installation instructions, or questions about connecting multiple sets, please contact Alpan Lighting Product Customer Service at 1-800-711-1585.
Hi ChrisL, Thanks for your question. These string lights are designed for temporary use ONLY, with Type A bulbs, and the manual lists a maximum of 150W per socket. When using a 150W incandescent bulb, the manual recommends using only one string at a time to avoid exceeding total wattage limits. For safety, always ensure cages are fully secured, bulbs are installed before plugging in, and lights are never left unattended. For questions or more info, contact Alpan Lighting customer service at 1-800-711-1585.
I used 3 sets to light up a sidewalk under scaffolding for 10+ months. no water exposure, but 4 seasons worth of temps. worked fine using LED bulbs - ran them from dusk to dawn.
Great question! When the label says, 'temporary use only,' it usually means the lights are designed for short-term use, typically a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the environment. It's hard to give an exact timeframe, but they aren't meant to be left up for months at a time, especially outdoors where weather elements could affect their lifespan. For more durability and longevity, it's best to use lights specifically designed for permanent outdoor use. Hope that helps! If you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Alpan Lighting Customer Service at 1-800-711-1585 for further assistance.
Jobsite is the keyword. Jobsites eventually get permanent lighting and the strings lights aren't needed any more. On to the next jobsite. However, these will light up all day every day if you choose. I am using them with led bulbs (10) in my shop.
