Q:Any suggestions for storing tools like this so the pieces don?t separate, please? I keep one velcroed to pocket of car door, in case of emergency. The parts come unscrewed from being rattled around. I try to keep an eye on it but now the spring is lost.

Answer This Question

A:  Apply a couple of drops of Loctite on the threads.

by|Mar 12, 2023

A:  I’ve never had that happen to me but you could use some loctite on the threads before you screw it together again

Q:How big (diameter) is the hole this thing punches? I need a tool for punching 5/16 inch holes into cardboard. Will this work?

        Answer This Question

A:  It is nowhere near 5/16, it would do better on cardboard that it does on iron.  Not very powerful.

        by|May 26, 2022

A:  It's only about 1/8" diameter. This is a tool for creating a dimple in materials (metal, plastic, wood, etc) that help keep a drill bit centered on the spot you want the hole to be. For punching holes in cardboard I'd check out leather punches or maybe just get a piece of metal pipe the correct outside diameter and sharpen the inner edge until it is sharp enough to cut your holes.

A:  This is an automatic center punch, it is used for making a small indentation in hard surfaces to start a twist drill. It won’t make a 5/16 hole

            by|Nov 5, 2022

A:  No, this is not hole puncher, this is for center marking on the metal where you are going to drill the hole. What you need , check this one : KING9-Piece Hollow Punch Set

A:  It punch’s a 1/16 hole  You would be better off using a leather punch tool

                by|Nov 5, 2022

A:  Hello, I think this will be too small for you! A punched hole in wood is 0.1” and the shaft diameter is 0.156”.  Works great for starting a pilot hole in metal!  Thanks,

Price point does not meet expectations.
This loaded center punch by Husky has a nice finish and seemed like a quality product at first. After a couple dozen uses it started to "misfire" and has progressively worsened. Not long after the product became a piece of scrap metel, at this point I pulled it apart and found a metel pin that had edges that look mushroomed or hammered on. Seems as if the pin is just slipping through due to this. So I filed the pin flat and lightly sanded(deburred) the edge. This worked great! The pin was catching the edge it needed inorder to get the spring pressure. It was a usable punch...but only about another dozen or so uses it became temperamental again. If Husky changed out the soft metel pin for something more "high grade" it may prove to be a good product. Disappointed about the price and quality, it still looks new and doesn't function as expected.

                      Not heavy duty
it's great for working on light material wood, aluminum, mild steel but looses it's charm after at around 30 punches. it gets internally week

                        Extremely handy!! No hammer needed!
This little tool is going to get a lot of use when it comes to drilling and even marking a spot too! It is spring loaded and the tension is also adjustable from light to heavy depending on the application. You will not need a hammer either! It is a one hand operation! It makes a nice indentation in wood for drilling a hole right on target and one of my favorites is in sheetrock for mark a spot to drill. The indentation it makes is deep enough to keep the drill bit from wandering off the desired spot. And the tension is strong enough to make an indentation in hardwood too like oak for instance. It has an all aluminum body so it will not rust either. It is compact and lightweight and I am very glad to have it in my toolbox, you will be also!

This product was not useful and did not serve the purpose I needed it for. I attempted to center punch a bolt so I could drill and extract the bolt. No matter the setting, it did not leave a mark.
