Q:Can this tool be used on PVC piping?
by|Apr 28, 2023

Answer This Question

A:  This tool is mainly used on metal or brass nuts and shutoffs, it could be used with plastic nuts under a sink but I would proceed with caution not to mar or damage the fitting. For glued PVC fittings, this is not the proper tool. Hope this helps!!!

Q:How do I get the head to pivot

A:  Push HARD. The head swivels but it's really stiff initially. Once you have moved it a couple of times it's less stiff, but still needs a lot of force because you don't want it flopping about when you are trying to tighten a bolt or something...

A:  Just use your fingers to pivot. There is a great video on homedepot.com that shows how to use the tool. The head easily rotates from side to side 180 degrees. Hope this helps!!

A:  Interestingly enough, I actually did use this tool on a round screw thread, it worked better than on the nuts to be honest. It grips in hard on the thread and turns it without coming unstuck. On the bolts it slips of constantly LOL

A:  This tool is made for loosening and tightening nuts. If you can get enough leverage the teeth may bite enough to loosen, but that is not what this particular tool is made for. Hope this helps!!

A:  It needs an edge to grab onto. If it's perfectly round I do not believe it would work.

This wrench does the job. There is really no way I could have installed my new kitchen faucet without it. The new faucet had a metal 1 1/4 inch nut which is not all the common anymore but this wrench would also work with large plastic nuts that are more common nowadays. There was no way to get any other wrench into the narrow space I had to work in. So if you are working in a tight space save yourself a lot of aggravation and spend the $13. I also used the same wrench to loosen a large nut on my hot tub connections yesterday which would have been a real problem otherwise.

The wrench didn’t work. It would not grip onto the nut to turn it. I was very disappointed.
