Q:Can this be used for notrogen?
      by|Jun 7, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  No, maximum inlet pressure of this regulator is 200 psi. A standard bottle of nitrogen can have as much as 2000 psi. Nitrogen regulators are expensive because the maximum inlet pressure allowed on most can be as much as 3000 to 4000 psi.

Installed Incorrectly Due to Lack of Instructions Provided - Almost Returned
I was in need of a new compressor regulator. This seemed to fit the bill. But almost packed it back up to return after it didn't work when first installed. The air wasn't being regulated at all, and only would show the same pressure as the tank. It seemed like the adjustment valve was leaking badly when I tried to lower the pressure, and after 10 minutes of tinkering, honestly thought it was defective. The item doesn't come with any instructions at all, which I find strange. A paper is included with it that says "For a complete use and care guide, please download at huskytools.com." So I went to the site and it redirects to Home Depot sub page for Husky. I clicked on the Air tools and accessories tab and nothing shows up, just a generic Home Depot page. So no instructions available to try to troubleshoot. Then I had an a-ha moment and looked around the part for some sort of indication of airflow direction. It turns out there is a small arrow embossed on the bottom pointing in the appropriate direction. This should definitely be something at least mentioned on the paper included, as it's not obvious. After installing the correct way, it works just fine. I can't imagine how many people have returned these because it was installed incorrectly, and makes the item appear defective. All in all, the part seems to be good, but documentation on use is lacking, and needs some attention. Which is why I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars.

The Husky High Flow regulator performed so well I now have a pair. Like most, they installed in seconds. Its adjusting knob is very smooth and provides very fine control over pressure. It takes almost 11 full turns to go from minimum to maximum and the pressure adjusted in a very linear fashion from Low to High. Looking into it's valve, when fully open, you can see how it deliver so much air (see picture). Although it weighs only 9.25 oz, it feels more substantial and solid (see picture). The gauge, although only 1.5" in diameter, is easily read, even from a distance and has both PSI and Bar markings (see pictures). Most use cases for regulators of this style are for compressors driving air hand tools and it works great on those, especially those that need to move a ton of air for tools like cut-off wheels and angle grinders. My favorite use, however, was with my sandblaster. Previously I just applied full compressor pressure to a 1/4 turn valve and used it to control the air flow. That was really suboptimal on some parts and sandblasting nozzles. I mounted one of these on my sandblasting tank, in line with my drier as I always do, and I really liked its refined performance. It's really a perfect use case (see pictures) All in all, this is a really simple device that's done really well. Husky came through again on this one. Highly recommended.

A NICE REGULATOR IN A SMALL PACKAGE. BACKGROUND: I got an airbrush that uses 20 psi to operate. I didn't want to change the pressure in my entire air system so I decided to get a regulator I could plug into the system when needed. FIT AND FINISH: The regulator is very compact, perfect for keeping with the airbrush. ASSEMBLY: The pressure gauge is not installed but is easy to screw in. It's always best to use a thread sealant (tape or paste). I added a quick connect to the inlet and outlet for portability. USE: With the quick disconnects it was easy to hook the regulator to the air supply and the airbrush to the regulator. It is a high flow regulator, but handled the low flow quite well. The airbrush required a maximum of 20 psi. I did find that to maintain a 20 psi working pressure I needed to set the static pressure to 25 psi. SUMMARY: This little regulator fit my needs perfectly. Small, Lightweight, Easy to adjust.

            I'm surprised.
Now, I always like to leak-check everything, so when I attached this regulator to my compressor I grab my soapy water and spray it all around the connections. Without even looking at the bubbles coming out (to which I later noticed), I heard a hissing sound. I saw that it was leaking right from the gauge itself, so I took it off, added some Teflon tape to it, and tightened it quite snug, which was WAY past the original setting(hence the awkward position). Though I could not get it aligned to the original rotation, at least now there are no leaks and it works GREAT! Now, I'm not sure if the loose leaking gauge was a primary example or just an oddball out of the batch, but be ready to do the same procedure if needed. The good thing is it's accurate all the way from ~10 psi or less and up to 120 and beyond (my compressor maxes out at 120). This regulator is rated not to exceed 200 lbs. It is VERY easy to adjust and I think it would work fine as an airbrush regulator replacement if not for the fact that the finer gauge measurements would be hard to estimate (marks for 10, 15, 20+). Now, as far as function goes, it drops ~10psi from the set pressure to the running pressure once the air tool is engaged, so if you need to run your tool(s) at a constant pressure, then set it while running and adjust as needed. In my opinion, for something which might or might not need work straight from the store, the value on it isn't the best. Within a few minutes or using it, I removed my air tool and felt plenty of moisture come out the end of the hose. Perhaps there are better ones out there which will come with an in-line water separator as well, if you are willing to pay the extra money. Perhaps most people will be overjoyed with such a product and will tell me to quit yapping and complaining, but I am really particular about my tools and quite finicky when it comes to quality.

            Great idea and works well.
This is exactly what I was looking for to regulate some tools that use a lot of air. I have two lines coming out of my compressor and one is a high flow line so I wanted a high flow regulator. This is it! Simple operation. You pull it out and rotate it and then press it in to lock it in place if you choose to lock it in place. Other than that it works great. Comes dissembled (gauge is not on) but that's great because its really hard to tighten everything up with the gauge on there.

I am returning the regulator. It is way over priced. I found many options for 1/2 the price
