Can this strap wrench be used to remove the ring nut on tub : shower mixing valves

    Answer This Question

I am sorry, the lock nut wrench is not utilized as a strap wrench. It has special cutouts to tighten and loosen the plastic nut under a sink. Hope this helps!!

Served its purpose and is fairly well built. Really takes two hands to operate correctly as the jaw action isn't very strong. This is troublesome when attempting to install a drain strainer solo.

It did exactly what it is supposed to do. It griped and turned the brass nut securing the drain. Unfortunately the whole drain turned with the brass nut. :( I wound up using a Dremel and cutting the brass nut. It took less than 5 minutes with the Dremel.

I used this item as the third tool to fix a leaking sink. My issues was the nut that secured the drain to the sink was rusted and I used the following tools to see it they would work and here was my evaluation, 3-Way Plumbers Wrench did not fit as the nut did not have the correct attachments, the 6 in. Universal Sink Drain Wrench was just a waste of time while it looked like it fit, everytime I tried to unscrew the nut it would pop off. However, after trying the Husky Lock Nut Wrench (this item) it fit perfectly, while at first I thought it needed to be more secure to the nut I used the Husky Double Ended Tub Drain Wrench, and glad I did as I thought the smaller end was going to be the side I was going to use, when in fact I used the larger end. With a screwdriver and the Husky Double Ended Tub Drain Wrench, it held the drain in place and with the Lock Nut Wrench the nut un did with very little effort. I did not bruise my knuckles or anything which I almost did with the Universal Sink Drain Wrench. I have attached photos of my adventure.
