I purchased this tool as I was replacing three tub drains in my home. The 'socket' end does not fit a standard drain. It is too small. I made it work by boring out the center to 9/16 inch. Although I did not use the other end, I imagine it should also be enlarged to 9/16 inch as well. I have no problem with the material quality. Actually, I found the material easy to drill and was pleased with that rather than frustrated.

If you install sink drains a lot, then it's a good tool to have. It only comes in at about 6 inches so it's nice to have in your toolbox. If you are only installing a sink once, you can get away with using two strong screwdrivers(demo sets or something similar) It does have some weight to it so it feels well built; it'll just be additional weight if you don't need it all the time. If you are using it to install a kitchen drain, you may also need another specialty wrench to tighten it as this holds it down.

Did Not Fit Kohler Drain
I figured all drain plugs were universal. Apparently Kohler’s cross bars are thicker than the tool’s notches I’m sure this is a quality tool but I couldn’t use it. So, I used a pair of needle-nose plyers to tighten my drain plug
