High performance 2.4 GHz Digital Splitters are used for splitting a single coax line into 3 lines. These splitters are designed for applications that operate in the 5 MHz to 2.4 GHz range, which include: Satellite, Digital/HD Cable TV, Broadcast (over the air) TV, CCTV and other general purpose coaxial cable splitting requirements. Splitters support the 1 GHz to 2.4 GHz frequency range for satellite and on-demand cable television services. All ports on the 2.4 GHz splitters are power pass enabled. This allows any of the ports to be used to pass power from the satellite set top box to the satellite dish or multi-switch. All splitters include an internal printed circuit board design inside of a nickel plated zinc die cast housing which helps to improve overall splitter performance in return loss, insertion loss and port-to-port isolation measurements, resulting in a stronger, cleaner signal with more protection from outside signal interference. All 2.4 GHz splitters have a solid, sealed body for improved EMI/RFI performance. Machine formed threads on the F ports allow for smooth connector mating.
Nickel-plated housing - designed for indoor use
Pair of grounding screws eliminates the need for a grounding block
Use terminators (85-038) on all unused ports for optimal performance
EMI/RFI shielding effectiveness: -80dB
Insertion loss: 7dB to 11dB over rated frequency range

A:Â Kyle no they are not waterproof and should be in a box if you want to use it outside. With that said can you use them outside? Yes but expect to change replace it occasionally. Good luck Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com.

Q:1. Is this a bi-directional splitter suitable for a modem/router? and 2. What is the signal loss at each outlet?

Answer This Question
A:Â 1) Yes. I am currently using it to connect a cable modem and two cable boxes to a single outlet. It works.
2) No idea. Sorry. All I can say is that there was no measurable difference in internet speed after adding the splitter.

A:Â Perhaps the product picture has changed from Mr Kipper's answer, but at present I see no indication of signal loss indicated on the splitter itself. Home Depot presently has a photo of the back of the package, and that indicates 6.5 dB at each port.

A:Â Tink Yes the splitter is bi-directional and should work for your modem. Looking at the face of the splitter the port on the left should have somewhere under 4 dB of loss and the other two closer to 8 dB over the frequency range of a CATV provider. Hope that helps. I purchased a new antenna, and needed it to run three televisions in our house. Went and bought this, hooked the antenna cable into the (in) connector, the three television cables into the (out) connectors. Worked perfectly, and allows me to watch tv for free not.
The only reason I gave this four stars instead of five is because the mounting screws that come with this are to small (not long enough). My house has vinyl siding, so I had to buy longer ones.
Other that that, works great, and easy to install.

Hey cmill thanks for the feedback. If you have the splitter outside exposed to the weather it may need to get replaced sometime later as it is not designed to be outside. Much better if you can put it in an enclosure of some sort. Good luck Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

Hi Mike let me know if I can help. All splitters have some loss to them and on a 3 way one port typically has more than the other two ports. Have fun Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
