Product Overview

Ideal Feed-Thru CAT6 modular plug connectors simplify cable termination by having the conductors feed-thru the end of the connector to verify they are in the correct order and the wires are fully inserted before crimping the connector. A Feed-Thru style tool crimps the connector and cuts off the excess conductor. This eliminates wasted connectors, saves time in assembly, and reduces the chances of finding an error during a wire map test of the cable.
  • Conductors trimmed to the correct length by the tool - no measuring
  • Verify conductor order before crimping
  • RJ-45 style for 23-24 AWG conductors
  • Crimp with feed-thru style RJ-45 modular plug crimp tool 30-495
  • 3 pin IDC contact, 50 gold plated over 150 nickel, secured in place - no loose pins in the package
  • Conductors fully seated above pin contact, no opens due to a short/misaligned conductor

Works well for regular indoor Cat6 cable but the space for the wire strands to push through is too small for shielded, outdoor rated Cat6 cable. Strange since both are rated a 23 AWG. If using anything but a standard cable, try test assembling the plugs first to make sure the strands fit. I ended up using the shielded style plug - it has a larger space for the wire stands.

CCNorwalk if you have a shielded cable then you should be using a shielded plug to maintain the ground connection. If I can help just reach out to me Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

This are a little more tedious to use than some of the other types. The main issue is that it lacks the longer channels where you typically feed the small copper wires through. This means the wires tend to tangle slightly, making it more difficult to get it right the first time. Also remember that when you use these types of plug heads (feed-thru), you'll want crimpers that also cut the excess wire for you, otherwise you'll need to use a razor-blade/knife to cut them and can be very annoying if you have to perform this task manually.

Hi Just A Person yes I would recommend using the FT-45 30-495 tool to crimp them. We sell standard Cat 6 plugs as well if you prefer them Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

No issues with the connector. You need the Ideal brand crimper that cuts the wires as it crimps. My old crimper would not work.

Dave HD does not stock the IDEAL 30-495 crimp tool but it is available online. IDEAL fixed the problem with most tools out there that is our tool leaves a very close flush cut every time. The good news is the tool works with standard or feed-thru style plugs hope that helps Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

This product requires a matching tool, that is not available in store. There used to be an alternative non feed thru option in store, same 50pk. Now that option is gone, and we are stuck with a feedthrough boot and no proper tool to use them. Thank you Home Depot.

Don't bother
Be certain to buy the 50 pack, you might get 1 to work. I went through 15 without success. I used the Ideal crimper. Complete waste of money
