About This Product
Hardie Backer 1/4 in. Cement Board is a cement backerboard designed for use with floors and countertops. Works under interior floors to provide a solid foundation for tile, vinyl, wood and other flooring. 1/4 in. Cement Board will also work as a countertop backerboard and underlayment for tile, granite and other stone surfaces. Provides excellent adhesion, resists moisture and features MoldBlock Technology to protect the board against damage from mold. 1/4 in. thickness provides strength and ease of use in flooring or countertop projects in bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms.

Is this Fireproof?
It is non-combustible but does not have a fire rating because it transfers heat too fast.
Could be use for shower walls in bathroom
While 1/4" HardieBacker can be used in shower walls, however, all edges of the board must be supported by framing. This is typically done with the addition of blocking.
can it be used in exterior locations
Unfortunately, the 1/4-inch backer is only approved for interior applications.
can I put this over a concrete floor
No, the HardieBacker board is not approved for use over any concrete flooring.
Are they pre holes
I am building an outdoor kitchen island. My plan is to secure this directly over the stainless steel frame, then use Tyvek home wrap to water proof, then siding over that.... Can this product be used like that?
Unfortunately, our backer product are not approved to be used as a sub sheathing
Can this be used outside?
The 1/4" HardieBacker board is not designed, tested, or approved for exterior use.
I plan to use this on a treated wood platform with 16" centers. I will put a free-standing Vinyl Shed with Vinyl floor on it. How much weight would it support?
