Questions & Answers

Is it suitable for treating a wooden cutting board? ie food contact

Asked by: Norman
No! Do not use this for cutting boards. It has metallic driers added. Food grade mineral oil is what the pros use for cutting boards.

Treating regular lumber treated for raised bed garden safer than pressure treated wood?

I think linseed is essential all natural, treating normal pine dimensional lumber, seems better option than using PT board. dont know if PT board leeches into garden soil
Asked by: terry
Yes. Inside and out is fine, despite what others are saying. Definitely do all sides or it will just rot from the inside out. The key is to let it dry for a week before putting in the dirt. Linseed is safe. It is known as flaxseed oil when fit for human consumption; both are from the same plant. The dryers in this are not safe to consume and would kill off plants, bacteria, etc in the dirt. So let the dryers evaporate and you'll be fine. Light coat drying time is a day. Multi coat drying time is several days. A full week is enough to ensure there are no remaining dryers in the wood.

Can this be used on raised beds.

Can this be used on raised beds.
Asked by: William
I know I used it on my fence and swing set in the back yard and it works great! Not sure why you couldn’t use it on raised beds.
