The large shaft piece with the 3/8” and 5/16” nut drivers is hollow and approximately 2” deep. The smaller shaft piece that can be used as a ¼” nut driver is approximately 0.5” deep.

Just grab the metal shaft and pull. If you got it wet sometimes it will stick. Just put some WD40 on it and let it set for awhile then it should come out.
