I thought this would fit my drill on one end and a half inch socket on another but this is for more specialized impact driver use. I can tell you that I have drill bits made out of the same metal, and they are indestructible. Since I could not use the adapter I did take the time to snap a photo of the tool with a tape measure in the background so you can see where all the different stages of the tool start and stop. The ball-bearing detent at the tip has a hex screw tensioner 180 degrees opposite the ball so you can change the ball tension.

I have a neighbor who is a lineman. I asked him to help me with this review. As soon as I showed this to him, his eyes lit up. He got his sockets and impact wrench out of his tool box and showed me how this works in the field. For a lineman, this is an essential tool as it helps to keep the sockets from falling to the ground. It can handle three of the most common square socket sizes. It has a ball and spring to help retain the socket. The ball and spring is adjustable so the tension can be whatever is needed. It is solidly built and looks like it will hold up to years of use.

I am not sure why they make the nut runners the way they do so that you need this socket adapter in the first place, but what do I know. I know Klein tools is based out of Chicago and this is advertised as being made in the USA but the packaging clearly states it is made in China. Don't get me wrong, this is a quality made tool and nice to have if you work in the Electrical field but it is a little bit of false advertising.

The Klein Impact Socket adapter is made for Klein's 3-in-1 impact socket. This is the 7/16 inch adapter to use with impact drivers. Pros: Detent ball is adjustable/replaceable with an allen wrench. Steel construction Black phosphate finish Klein quality and warranty Cons: Online it says it is made in the USA, but on the packaging I received it says made in China

The Klein Tools Brand, Impact Socket Adapter, is a professional high-quality tool for industry professionals. This is the only adapter that will work properly with Klein nut runners commonly used by power line technicians. This replacement adapter for Klein nut runners is a bit different than pictured and the replacement adapter packaging lists it as being made in China rather than the USA. They do fit and function correctly with existing Klein nut runner sockets. This three-quarter square drive adapter does not come with the rounded shoulder stop near the shank. It is best to keep these adapters with the nut runner socket and not risk losing it as happened to me. It does not hurt to keep a spare adapter on hand for the time that would be wasted by not having one on the job.

These adapters seem to be getting worse each time I buy one. I’ve been using them for approximately 5 years and each one I have purchased doesn’t last as long as the previous. As much as I’ve spent in adapters, I probably could’ve bought a whole new socket.

    I average 3 or 4 a year!!
Had this adapter break on me again this week, lucky no one was under me. This is a safety hazard but no other options unless I buy another lineman socket. Be very careful when using it in the air.

Works great until the bearing falls out repeatedly
Bought this product two months ago, and it didn't even make it through the first job before the bearings fell out. The 3 in 1 works great with no problems, but this causes a major safety problem for us.

        Not strong enough
I work for a power utility. we buy the adapters all the time due to them breaking. The guys love the socket but we have to keep extra adapters on hand due to failure.
