I really wanted to give a 5-star rating and I've always loved the Klein name, but this crimper only seems to work with the standard (Red, Blue & Yellow) insulated Wire connectors, the ones with hard plastic. Do not buy if you're planning on using for "heat Shrink" connectors, because they don't close the gap enough, not even after maxing out the adjustable compound. The wires still pull out from the ends! I ended up putting the yellow connectors in the blue cavitie of the die and the blue in the red, but doing this defeated the whole purpose, because it mangled the heat shrink and exposed the metal. Wish I had a better experience, but those are my facts.

This crimper does an excellent job for making secure crimps on stranded wire! The color coding makes it easy to select the correct die for the terminal your are working with and does the crimp perfectly every time. The die allows you to see both ends of the crimp to allow you to see the wire is inserted correctly. A very good choice for automotive and commercial wiring.

The #3005CR Ratcheting Crimper by Klein Tools (OMSID 306884697) is another excellent offering by an old, established company. While the operation is intuitive, detailed instructions about this and future adjustment, if required, are included. Because of the ratcheting feature they are heavier than the crimpers I normally carry in my pouch. That being the case they will probably remain on my bench unless I have a lot of terminating to do at once. I admit, though, the crimp is superior to anything I've had previously. This is a well engineered, nicely made tool for a very reasonable price. They are warranted for the normal life of the product.

An incredible price point for a great Klein ratcheting crimper makes this a must-have for DIY and pros. This is a great looking tool with red over molded handles so they are easy to see in my tool bag and easy to not get lost on the job site. More important, however, is the quality of the crimp; they’re perfect and consistent. I have always crimped my connections twice, and to this day I still do. It’s a hold-over behavior from trying to crimp with low-quality tools, and it’s not necessary with this crimper. The ratcheting action makes crimps a true one-handed event. The dies are very nicely formed, and they’re ambidextrous, so it doesn’t matter which side of the tool is used. A dab of each color on the back of the dies will help visually identify which size to use for a left-handed person just starting out, but that’s a minor improvement that most wouldn’t even notice. The adjustment for crimping force works just as expected—remove the chrome Phillips screw, turn the force dial, and replace the screw. Awesome.

Crimp your terminals, don’t cramp your hand!
I was pleased to see that Klein Tools was offering a compound crimper, so I picked one up for my field service tool bag. They seem to be good quality so far, and the price was reasonable. Definitely a lot less stress on my hands than the regular Klein crimping pliers!

Great tool. It's bulky, so I wouldn't buy for my tool bag, but it is my go to in the garage. Very confident in the connections it makes.

                        Junk
Straight out of the box the bottom handle slams full open and will not close (ratchet jams against the release). I check the manual on how to adjustment and set it to the recommended loose setting; still won't close. Mess with the adjustments (tighter and looser) for the next 45 minutes - it took 2 more full turns (looser) to get this thing to close. Action is still not smooth but "works". Adjustment knob and screw are complete garbage. Good luck!
