      better glue in those vials
I've purchased one, and exchanged 2 additional 8" torpedo levels from klein. The last one made it 2 weeks before I touched the vials and noticed there wasn't hardly and adhesive on there in the first place. I wanted to stick with this particular level as the magnets are very strong

Model 935 by Klein Tools has a few extra goodies, which is perhaps why it costs considerably more. While this level has the basics like 3 easy to read indicators (level, 45 degrees, and 90 degrees) and a magnet, the "bonus" features are the bright orange color (easy to spot in the tool bag or on conduit), the V groove (for placing on round conduit), and the top down viewable level indicator (a real knee saver!). I also like the holes on each end for hanging it on the peg board over the work bench. It's a good tool for the occasional grab-and-go tool bag. The magnet isn’t any stronger than another 9” level I own however. To be "on the level" (pun intended), I’d also like to point out I’m not a pro and only use a 9” level around the house for DIY projects (putting up curtain rods, hanging pictures, installing tv mounts, carpentry). Either way, I really appreciate that Klein Tools has made it a point to disclose on the HD website and tools’ packaging the CA Proposition 65 warning, which encourages hand washing after handling this tool. I constantly chew gum while I work, which means I eat my share of dirt. As a result, if I had to use this level every day, I’d consider wearing gloves or using a different tool as a result.

This review is for the Klein Model 935 9” torpedo level. I’m a homeowner / DIY’er not a pro tradesman, so this review comes from that perspective. The Klein is orange, making it easy to spot in a toolbox, and it offers three angles – flat, 90 degrees, and 45 degrees. The tool has a magnetic strip for holding the level in place, but my favorite feature is a top-down view bubble port. Rather than kneel down to see the bubble on a low surface you can look down on the top of the level and get a good view (see the photo below). Fit and finish is good, and the tool isn’t overly heavy, so it can be stowed in a pants pocket without dragging down on your belt. There are a couple of holes in the housing, for mounting the tool on pegboard or for attaching a lanyard. I’ve tested it against other levels that I own, and it seems to be accurate. The level isn’t made in the U.S., but offers the Klein lifetime warranty against defects and, of course, the Home Depot 90-day return warranty. HTH Regards, Jim

Perfect for my second toolbox and for hanging pictures/mirrors. The level is made of plastic mostly with aluminum providing the straight edge on the top and bottom. Aluminum rings also holds the 3 level bubbles. The bubbles are easy to read and provide a horizontal, vertical and 45 degree options. It includes a magnet on one edge. The other side has an indented v on the edge so you can rest it on a lip of something. Overall its going to meet my needs. The metal edges seem to be rigidly held on and should last a while.

A Tool Every DIYer Needs! Levels are something that every professional or weekend warrior should have, but something you don’t think about until you really need it. I have laser levels, long levels, miniature levels; however the most useful one I have ever owned is the torpedo level and this one is superb. Made by Klein tools, it is light, accurate, easy to read, and easy to transport and store. It is 9 inches in length and its bright orange body makes it easy to find among the mess that can be my toolbox. One really nice thing is that can be read from the top as well as from the sides, and the top has a “V” groove in it so it can sit on conduit or pipe and be used. The magnetic strip on the bottom is nice but not strong magnetically. This is good, as it will not pick up stray metal bits but does mean you have to touch it to the surface to get it to stick. In the picture you can see where I used it to level the base plate and router table, and is the perfect size to do this. No tool box should be without one of this, and this one is excellent.

The level has the strongest earth magnets I’ve ever used. You really need to pull hard to remove it from a metal surface. I’m in construction and it’s perfect for my job!

        My go-to level.
This is now my go-to level for projects around the house. First thing I notice when I took it out of the package is that this thing is SOLID. I have another of similar size and it seems cheap and flimsy compared to this thing. I was curious about the strength of the magnets and when I went to put it up against the refrigerator it jumped out of my hand. When I tried to pull it off it wouldn't let go; I had to lay it over on its side to break the connection. The vials are large and easy to read from top or side. It has 0, 30, 45, and 90 measurements. The 30 is a first for me on a level; perhaps one day I will have a need to use it. If I could change one thing about it I would like to see a marked ruler. Otherwise, a great addition to my tool box.

        Best Torpedo Level yet!
One wonders what one can say about a level other than "It's level" or so I thought until I received this Klein Billet Aluminum Torpedo level. I have to start with the statement "What a beast!" This thing is solid! It probably weighs a good 6-8 ounces; a far cry from the cheap dime store torpedo levels one usually finds. Besides the typical 0 and 90 deg bubbles usually found on a level of this size, Klein has included 45 and 30 deg bubbles as well. There are four rare-earth magnets on the bottom of the level to hold it securely on metal objects......and hold secure it will! One of the pics shows me holding up a 3 pound sledge using three of the magnets. On a flat metal surface like an electrical panel, it requires a bit of force to remove. The top of the level has a nicely milled groove for line leveling. When I first saw the level, it struck me as strange that it had an orange anodized finish until I realized that this made it much more visible and less likely to get lost or left behind on a job site stuck to the side of a J box.......been there, done that! Premium quality torpedo level, built to last
I'm not an electrician or plumber, so a torpedo level wasn't high on my list of priorities, but I picked up an Empire EM 71.8 (also very nice) a few years ago, and I'm regularly surprised at how often I use it -- hanging pictures for my wife, leveling a refrigerator door, mounting metal shelving in our basement. This one from Klein is exceptional quality, and while it's not cheap, you definitely get what you pay for. PROS: Accurate (confirmed by my Stabila); heavy, solid construction; ultra-strong magnets (much stronger than those on the Empire) that are track mounted, so they won't come unglued and fall out; milled, convex bottom face that will fit to a pipe; bright fluorescent yellow vials that are easy to read; and a bright orange finish, not easy to overlook. The Empire has two features that might be a nice add -- a ruler on one side, and a vial with tick marks so that you can check angles beyond the standard 30 and 45 deg. -- but really, when you're talking about a tool of this quality, it's just a question of what features are best for you. For me, the Klein's easier to read vials and MUCH stronger magnets tip the scales in its favor. NOTE: HD carries another Klein model that is lighted for just a few dollars more; definitely worth considering if you're going to be working in dark places.

Solid, well made, attractive and functional
I obtained this level for use where my 24" and 6' levels won't fit. The tool is machined from a solid piece of aluminum and anodized in bright orangey-gold. All printing is bold, professional, and legible. There are four vials, clearly marked 30°, 45°, 90° and 0°. Each is locked in place with a plastic plug. The machining clearly determines the accuracy of the vials and I expect that dropping the tool would not affect them (I have not tried). Reversing the level on the same surface results in the same reading, as expected, at least on the 90° and 0° levels where this is possible (see pictures). Both top and bottom surfaces are machined to prevent slippage and the top surface is grooved for use on pipes and other rounded surfaces. The bottom surface has four strong magnets (see picture) for added stability on ferrous surfaces such as corner wall beading. When using the magnets, it helps to twist the level sideways to remove, as the magnets are quite strong. This is a fine tool and a welcome addition to my toolbox.
