Q:How do you know what size???

    Answer This Question

A:  The easiest way to figure out what size you need is to just look at the flapper currently installed on your toilet (the water is clean but the easiest way to check is it turn the toilet water valve off and flush the toilet). This will give you access to the flapper without the water in your way and the toilet continuing to run. Also make sure to inspect the way the flapper is mounted or attached, this is important- this flapper in particular is universal and rubber so easy to slip on each side. Hope this helps!

A:  TAKE OUT YOUR OLD ONE AND BRING IT TO HOME DEPOT AND FIND THE SAME SIZE ON THEIR DISPLAY. MAKE SURE THE ATTACHMENT EYELETS MATCHES YOUR ORIGINAL, ORIENTATION, AND WIDHT.

A:  That's a great question! In order to determine whether you need a 2" or a 3" flapper, you want to measure across the drain hole at the bottom of your tank where the flapper sits. If the hole measures between 2" - 2-3/4", you need a 2" flapper. If it measures above 2-3/4", you need a 3" flapper. If you have further questions, please consider calling our Technical Support team at 800-528-3553 or email us at sales@lavelle.com. We are available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST.

A:  I presume that you're asking how to determine whether you need a 2 inch or a 3 inch flapper. In case the following link goes dead, 3 inch flappers didn't really become a thing until 2005. If your toilet is older, it's probably takes a 2 inch flapper. Otherwise, look at the drain opening at the bottom of the tank. If t's the size of a baseball/orange, it's 2 inch. If it's the size of a softball/grapefruit, it's 3 inch. https://www.korky.com/toilet-help/troubleshooting-guide/what-size-flapper-do-i-need

A:  Measure the inside drain at the bottom of the tank. The size of a toilet flapper is based off of the inside drain diameter. If it measures 1 7/8″ or 2 3/8″ then you have a 2″ toilet. If it measures in the 3″ range, you have a 3″ toilet. You can also measure the diameter of the bulb that goes into the hole. Good luck.

Q:how do you remove the flapper

        Answer This Question

A:  Instructions are included, but basically: Turn off toilet water valve Flush toilet and hold handle down to drain tank Unclip old chain from flush handle rod Spread old flapper tabs apart to remove from overflow tube pins Spread new flapper tabs apart to place on overflow tube pins Connect chain to flush handle rod shut that there is very little slack Turn water on Turn flapper top to adjust amount of water released with each flush

        by|Apr 25, 2019

A:  pry the arm off each hook, bottom first lifting upward. Then unclip chain.

        by|Jun 5, 2019

A:  You just pull it off the little plastic hooks. No special tools needed.

          by|Sep 22, 2021

A:  Simply pull the flanges off on the left and right sides and un attach the chain.

            by|Apr 23, 2021

A:  Thanks for your question. First, we recommend turning off your water supply and holding down your flush handle to let the water completely drain from your toilet tank. Unclip the chain from the lever arm and remove the flapper. There are several types of flappers that require different removal methods. For flappers with two arms, slide the flapper arms outward over the flush valve pegs. Some flappers have plastic clips. For those, simply lift up to unclip from the flush valve pegs. If you would like to walk through this over the phone, or have any additional questions, please dial 1-800-528-3553 and our customer service team will be happy to assist you. We are available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST.

A:  how do I remove the flapper

              by|Feb 13, 2021

A:  To Remove old rubber flapper (save the chain if you don't have a new one.): Squeeze and unhook top link of the metal chain's clip from its hole in the top flapper arm. Next, push the two mount sides of the old rubber flapper off of the lower drain mount pegs. Replace it with the new rubber flapper. Connect new flapper to chain and proceed.

                by|Jun 2, 2021

A:  Just unhook the chain and left each side of the pipe hooks and replace with the new flapper. Be sure you turn off the water at the wall value and after you replaced the flapper turn water back on. Follow directions on the package.

Easy flapper replacement for decade+old toilet
Decades old toilet flapper was leaking leading to auto-flushing, so I knew it was time to replace the flapper. This 2x Korky model goes over the top to fit older and newer toilets with an adjustable fill ring, but thankfully, I didn't need to adjust it for my old toilet. Install was simply unclipping the two sides of the old flapper, then slipping the Korky on. No need to turn off the water supply on my toilet, and the uninstall and install took less than 20 seconds. Clip the chain on & done!

I spent extra to purchase this item. However, I searched but could not find instructions outlining the use of the "dial" on the underside of the flapper. Further, I had considerable trouble trying to keep the chain from becoming 'hung' under the edge of the flapper. See my photos and the narrative. I spent considerable time trying to solve the problem. Photo shows how I solved the problem.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. From your pictures posted, it appears as though the flapper is installed incorrectly on the flush valve. The back flapper arm should be connected to the flush valve like the front one is. Additionally, we recommend using only one chain to connect your flapper to the tank lever. It appears as though two are currently being used. Are you able to contact our customer service team? We would love the opportunity to get your flapper installed correctly. Your flapper is backed by a 10 year warranty and we want to ensure your 100% satisfaction. Please call 1-800-528-3553 to speak with our team. Be careful when you need to replace the toilet flapper. Just because it says it will fit a 2 inch opening doesn't mean that it will work in your toilet. As you can see from the photo I REALLY needed a new toilet flapper, and I had 2 inch opening, BUT.......I spent over ten minutes trying to get this flapper to fit and seal properly. I finally gave up realizing it just wouldn't work. I ended up going to the hardware store and getting a flapper that looked EXACTLY like my old flapper. In less than a minute I had the hardware store flapper installed and working properly. It's too bad this Ultra High Performance Flapper didn't work because it has a nice long 10 year warranty.

We are sorry to hear that this flapper didn’t work with your toilet. Unfortunately, the flapper you are trying to replace is a Kohler shark fin flapper. Your Kohler toilet requires a specific fit flapper. Would you be willing to contact our customer service team? Don't let the settings alarm you.
Not all flappers are created equal. I found this out with my prior flapper that used a plastic chain. Although it served us well for a while, the chain did snap. I was able to use the extra links to resolve the problem but a few weeks later, it broke again twice in one day. Long-story-short, when buying a flapper, look for one with a metal chain. The Korky, universal flapper comes with a metal chain and fits all standard 2” toilet tank drains. You will need a small, set of pliers to pry open one of the links so as to attach the chain to the flapper. An included clip fastens the other end of the chain to the toilet’s handle rod. Be sure to leave any extra links at the top of the chain so that they don’t interfere with the flapper sealing off the drain. The unique feature of this flapper is its adjustable band and dial settings for closing the flapper. The band can be set to open or closed and the dial has settings from 1 to 6. With your existing flapper in place, you simply shut off the water to the tank, flush and mark the low-water level on the inside of your toilet tank with a pencil. Then, change to the new flapper, fill the tank and flush again. Look to see if the flapper closes within ½ an inch of the pencil mark. If not, then try changing the band and / or dial settings as directed in the installation instructions. The back of the package lists the band and dial settings for some popular toilet models. Mine, a Gerber 28-790 was not listed but the flapper closed right at the low-water pencil mark using the factory-default settings. (dial closed – band setting 6) Don’t be alarmed that all of this sounds far too complex for a toilet flapper; it really isn’t. The flapper was installed within minutes and works as expected. The settings simple increase the probability of this flapper working correctly in your particular toilet. The Korky flapper is made in the USA and comes with a 10-year warranty.
