Questions & Answers

Can romex be used inside this wireway?
ByFeb 14, 2024
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hello. Yes, this raceway is rated for line voltage and can be used with Romex. However, it is designed for THHN / THWN type wiring, so the Romex may be fairly tight. The NMW17 can be used on the end of the raceway, where the outer jacket of the Romex cable can be stripped; a Romex connector should be used to secure the Romex to the NMW17 end feed. Thank you!

    Answer This Question

Hello. The NMW1 can be used to extend wiring to a single gang device box, such as the NMW3; however, the channel is rated for THHN wiring only. Thank you

We have this already on a wall with corresponding surface mounted outlet. We are installing shiplap and I would like to cut a channel in the backs of the boards to go over it. Is it okay to do this ?

      Answer This Question

Unfortunately no, the nonmetallic raceway must be surface mounted and accessible, so the raceway would have to be installed on top of the shiplap. Thank you.

Will this house 12 awg 4 conductor Romex?
        ByAug 17, 2023
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Hello, This raceway is approved for THHN / THWN type wiring. NMW17 can be used on the end of the raceway at which point the outer jacket of the romex cable should be stripped and a romex connector should be used to properly secure the romex to the NMW17 end feed. This raceway can accept up to 5 12AWG electrical wires. Thank you!

There is mention of temperatures being too cold or hot causing the wire mold to become brittle. What are the limits of temperature that can cause this? I ask for installation in a garage where it is technically indoors but unconditioned. Thanks!

I had two 14/2 Romex cables inside.  I had to use pliers to snap it closed.  But ultimately it worked.  Hope this helps someone.

It may be a tight fit. Since you are not running line voltage and only covering cords, you could also use our Cordmate III cord cover which is a little larger. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Legrand-Wiremold-CordMate-III-High-Capacity-Cord-Cover-15-ft-Kit-Cord-Hider-for-Home-or-Office-Holds-5-Cable-White-C310/205091975

Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the Legrand Wiremold is an effective solution for concealing wires and cables, offering easy installation and a clean, professional appearance. Many appreciate its paintable surface and sturdy design, although some noted that it lacks adhesive backing and requires additional mounting hardware. While the product performs well for managing various cables, users expressed a desire for deeper channels to accommodate thicker wires and clearer installation instructions. Overall, it is viewed as a reliable choice for cable management in both residential and commercial settings.

                    Used as shoe molding
Needed to hide wires along base molding, so I removed shoe molding then ran wires in this sleeve as shoe molding, a little silicone to hold it in place to base molding and looks great.

Exactly what I was looking for!
This product was exactly what I was looking for to hide my wires from my tv to the outlet! The only thing was in other comments it says it’s adhesive- mine was NOT. I had to use double sided tape to get it to stick to my wall.

I plan on using these to route some low voltage landscape lighting wiring in several places around the outside of my house. The power supply, photo eye, and switches will be in the house attic, protecting them from the elements. The wiring will be routed from the attic through a rectangular cut-out in the brick molding/soffit which the wiremold product will mate with, and conceal the wiring as it goes down the side of the house to the ground. The wiremold will be placed behind the gutter downspout and painted to match the brick work (not yet painted in photo) so it won't be readily visible. I will probably supplement the self-adhesive of the wiremold with a mastic to help it adhere to the brick. The low profile of the LeGrand "on wall" wiremold will allow it to tuck neatly behind the downspout and cover several pairs of wires. The plastic composition of the wiremold will protect it from the weather. The length of the wiremold channel can be extended by placing additional base pieces end-to-end, then "stagger" the top covers when applying so they overlap the bases by about 3-4 inches to hold the completed length together. Trim as necessary with a fine saw before inserting the wires/cables.

It worked out very well. The system fits together well. You need more anchors than the accessory kit provides so if you are using this pick up some addition plugs and screws. The corners and such are a touch expensive but overall happy with my project.
