Can I use two 100 watt heating bulb in these without it burning up?

I just got off the phone with a Leviton Customer Service Representative who talked to his Application Specialist. First, there is no published information anywhere to answer your question. They simply said, "They *cannot* recommend installing heat lamps/bulbs into the sockets." That's the official answer; however, it doesn't directly answer your question... ("Will it burn up if you do install heat lamps?"). My *personal opinion* is you may install a heat lamp/bulb such as a BR40 250W in each (as long as the total wattage does not exceed 660W). Heat lamps are designed to reflect as much IR energy away from the socket (and to the item to be heated). They have highly reflective surfaces with the lamp focusing the energy away in order to maximize heating capacity and reduce the heat transmitted to the socket as possible. However, as I state my opinion, I would want to try this in a controlled environment first. at about $3.00 each, it wouldn't be a costly experiment. All this being said, officially, it is *not recommend.*

I read this is for interior use, but if it's completely protected by an overhand with no moisture...

Nope. Once you screw them in, they don't rotate. You might try to back it off a tad but that's all the rotation you're going to get.

These lampholders will work with LED bulbs.

Is this intended to work with multi-power level sockets? Specifically a 3-way socket (50w, 100w, 150w).

Answer

No, this is not designed for multi-circuit bulbs/sockets. It simply allows for multiple bulbs to be installed without requiring the installation of a new fixture.

Been using this for the past 6 months in garage. Needed more light in garage and this was a life saver rather than buying more light fixtures. Installed it on an existing light socket and put two day light LED bulbs. This is for sure the best way to add more light on a budget. I wish it had an universal joint so that bulbs can be pointed in any direction. Sorry for the mess!

Very useful but expensive
These are very useful if you need a lot of light from one socket. I used three of them to quadruple the number of lamps for more light in the garage. They are very useful and fun but unfortunately they are really quite expensive.

They work Great!
I used the socket extenders to expand and make a grow lighting system. I used a trouble light for the first socket and then added 3 of these twin socket adapters. Works great with the cfl lights I used - everything all together is only 52 watts - so still less than ONE regular bulb.

Simple value, functions well
This one-to-two adapter works well with heavier bulbs like those used for photography studio setups. It could be sturdier but does its job well.

I had a single socket light in attic that used 60W incandescent 800 lumen light bulb, added this adapter and then added two 10W LED 1,600 lumen bulbs, resulting in 4 times the light for 1/3 the energy. Woo-hoo! Works great.
