Q:i am thinking to place this system in my basement. How hi much ceiling be so ball doesn't hit ceiling? Thanks
        by|Oct 19, 2018
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  When assembled the system sits 90 inches high. If you have a standard 8 foot ceiling you should be fine. But realistically, when you give kids a basketball it's very likely they will hit the ceiling no matter how high they are. If you are worried about protecting the ceiling you could consider attaching a plastic panel to the ceiling above the game system. Something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-16-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Plastic-Panel-63003/202090190 Or something similar.

Once You Start Playing You Can't Stop! So Much Fun!
I have been very impressed by the new and improved double shot arcade game. First, it is a pretty straightforward install but it does take a couple hours to complete. I do recommend using your own tools instead of the ones that come with the unit since they are too small to get good leverage to tighten the bolts. Also, the pump that they include to inflate the balls did not work for me. I recommend using a bike pump. Once it was setup, then began the fun part of learning to play the 12 game modes. The game modes are divided into four categories: Single Player Games, Single or Double Player Games, Double Player Games & Multi-player Games. There is always a game to play no matter how many people are playing and if there is no one around the single player games are a blast. My favorite game so far has been "Scoring Streak" which is a double player game where you compete to be the first to get 100 points. In this game you get bonus points for consecutive shots made within a certain amount of time. It is a fun competition and this game never ends after one match. I also really like the single player game "High Score". This game awards you 6 bonus points if you get a ball in each basket at the same time. The game keeps track of the highest score that has been reached. I let a friend play this game and his high score haunted me for a long time before I beat it. The variety of game modes keeps the Double Shot game interesting and entertaining. I also like that the unit can be adjusted to make it easier for kids to play. Both the ramp and the backboard can be lowered so that kids can have an easier time reaching the ball and making shots. Another thing I like about this game is the fact that it can be folded up to take up about 1/3 of the floor space. When folded up, it sticks out from the wall a little less than three feet (unfolded it sticks out 7'). I have encountered a couple issues related to the speaker/volume. First, the single player game "Free Throw" is way too loud. At the default startup volume the whistle in this game sounds like a fire alarm going off followed by loud cheering/jeering. I like this game but I have to remember to turn the volume way down when I play it. Secondly, the audio becomes distorted when you turn the volume down. As you turn it down static and background noises nearly drown out the game sounds. While the audio isn't the clearest at the lower levels, I do like that I have the option to turn the volume down so if the kids are playing it for a while it isn't blaring in the house. I also recommend numbering the games in the game book. This has made it faster to quickly choose the number of the game I want to play without having to wait for the scoreboard to call out the name of that game. Also, the controls to select the games and change skill levels are really simple to use. There are just three buttons but it only took a short time to figure out how to use them. In summary, the fun competitions this game has provided really outweigh the minor issues. This game is an awesome addition to a game room and I highly recommend it. This game is easy to start playing but good luck trying to stop once you start!
            Fun for Everyone!!
My daughter and I have had a lot of fun playing our Double Shot Arcade Game. It can easily be set at two different height settings, depending on how tall the players are. There are several games to choose from on this system that makes it just that much more fun! This can be played as a single player, two players, or multiple players. Just last weekend all the adults and children in my family played several rounds of the different games. Pros: This system is easy to start and stays interesting longer with all the different games. It is very well built with a thicker frame, and will last a lifetime. This system has the option of folding up when you aren't playing it. I love this feature, and I am able to fold, and unfold, this system easily by myself. This game automatically shuts down by itself when you are done using it. The system has a 12 volt plug, or you may run the score board off of the batteries. I play this system several times a week by myself, or with another person. We have really enjoyed this game system, and I would highly recommend it to others. Cons: I am glad that my brother was there to help put the system together. The tools that came with the system are small and hard to use. They need to have a longer handle for leverage. We used our own socket wrench and a pipe to extend the handle on the tools. I would highly recommend using larger, more sturdy tools to speed up building this. It took us about 2 and 1/2 hours to put the system together. I have also noticed if you make baskets too close together, the score board has a hard time keeping up. This system is large so you will want to pay attention to the space you have in mind for this. That being said, it does fold up and that helps get it out of the way when it's not in use (This is my favorite part of this system). I would highly recommend buying this system to my friends and family.
              Game On!
Our family (and the neighbors!) absolutely love this system! The competition becomes fierce and lasts until late at night. The kids love the variety of games it offers and the ease of using it, switching through the different games, etc. My husband loved how easy it was to build and set-up. One of the best features this system offers is it's ability to fold up and store securely, especially with limited space. We have a very small house and it wouldn't fit inside. We were forced to put it out in our garage and were worried we wouldn't be able to park our cars inside of it any longer. Once we set it up and saw how easily and tightly it stored we were thrilled! When the kids want to play we move our cars out and they are able to put it down with no assistance from us. We did have one very small problem with the adhesive used to mount the control button to the side bar. It never held the part on from the get-go. We were able to find another adhesive to attach it securely and haven't had a problem since. All in all, a very well built and sturdy piece that will hopefully last for many years to come, especially with 3 growing boys.
Perfect indoor activity for the whole family
In the month we've had our basketball system it's gotten plenty of use! It took my husband about two hours to assemble. It's needs a good amount of space, with a footprint that's about the size of a full size bed. We found that you also need to leave a little elbow room and not place it right next to the wall. We set it up in our basement with eight foot ceilings and it fit fine. It can be raised higher if you have a place with taller ceilings, which is ideal for adults. The adults can easily play standing up but some preferred to kneel. It can simply be folded away to open up your living space when you're not using it. And the six arcade size balls just fold up with it. Make sure it is close to an outlet or have an extension cord handy. The 12 pre-programmed games keep it fresh and fun. There are single, double, and multi player games. One of my son's favorites is 'Cross Fire' where you get to shoot in your opponent's basket so the balls cross in the middle and often collide with each other. My seven year old had figured out how to operate the system and play all the different games in no time. He and his friends have loved having a fun activity to do when it's been hot outside this summer. Everyone who comes over for dinner or just for a chat ends up playing a few games when they find out about it. Even my toddler likes to get in on the fun. We look forward to many years of fun with this basketball system.
                  AWESOME IN HOME ARCADE GAME!
This basketball double shoot is so much fun! We got it for our daughter but my husband and I play it regularly. The basketball hoop is adjustable in the front for shorter kids playing to be able to reach the basketballs that are being fed back and then easily goes back to a taller height for adults so you don't have to bend down. It is also able to fold up conveniently to store against the wall and not take up so much room. We currently use this in our unfinished basement and it fit perfectly! If you have lower ceilings you are able to adjust the height for that as well. The game is very big! Which is awesome! It's like having a real arcade game right in your house! This basketball hoop is also loaded with games to play other than just regular basketball. There are settings for the volume of the "announcer" so it can be louder or quieter. These games are for single, double or multiple (up to 9) players. Our favorite has been the "bowling" game. The basketball hoop come in a fairly small box it fit in the back of our SUV and was a simple set up. This hoop is very good quality and sturdy! I would definitely recommend this to family or friends.
The Pre-Programmed Games And Quality Design Make This The Best Basketball Arcade Ever!
The new Lifetime Double Shot has been the perfect addition to my game room! I have a pool table, air hockey table, table tennis and darts, but the big attraction is definitely the Double Shot. We haven't even had it a month, and we've had tons of our friends and family come over to play. The comment I have received the most, is that the Double Shot has a familiar feel to classic arcade basketball, but it is much higher quality and a lot more enjoyable. It has a more realistic feel and the many games the Double Shot comes with, are an absolute blast. My wife and her sister assembled the Double Shot in a little over an hour. They said construction was really simple and the directions were very clear. They do recommend having two people for assembly, but think they could've finished it much faster if my dog and little boy hadn't scattered the parts around making the build more challenging. I don't think a day has gone by that our family hasn't played on the Double Shot. It has become an entertainment staple in our home that I'm so glad we have. I would recommend it to anyone who has an empty wall in their home and would like to fill it with something that will bring them a lot of fun. The Double Shot comes programmed with the 12 unique games listed below. Single-Player Games: The first game is called "Free Throw". You select your difficulty level - 4 seconds per shot, 3 seconds per shot, or 2 seconds per shot. You shoot for 60 seconds and try to score as many points as possible. The second game is called "High Score". You select the length of play - 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 4 minutes. The goal is to score as many points as possible in either hoop within the time allotted and you get bonus points for simultaneous shots made. The game displays your all-time high scores so you know the records to beat. The third game is called "Flip Flop". You select your difficulty level - 3 seconds to make your shot with no penalty for a wrong basket, 2 seconds per shot with a 1 point penalty for a wrong basket, and 1.4 seconds per shot with a 2 point penalty for a wrong basket. You select length of play - 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes. Shoot in the left or right basket as directed and try not to accrue any points. Single or Double-Player Games: The fourth game is called "Check Point". You select your difficulty level - 3 points per shot made, 3 points per shot made after the first 20 seconds, or 2 points per shot made. The goal is to try for bonus time. Score 30 points to pass the first checkpoint and earn 15 more seconds. Score 60 points to pass the second checkpoint and earn 10 more seconds. Last player alive wins. The fifth game is called "Spares 'n' Strikes". You select your difficulty level - 6 seconds to shoot twice, 4 seconds to shoot twice, or 3 seconds to shoot twice. If you score twice in the time allotted you get a strike. If you score once in the time allotted you get a spare. If you miss both of your shots in the time allotted you get a gutter ball. You play ten frames and a perfect game is 300 points, just like bowling. The sixth game is called "Staying Alive". You select your difficulty level - 9 seconds to make a shot, 7 seconds to make a shot, or 5 seconds to make a shot. You must keep scoring within the allotted time to stay alive. Last player alive wins. Double-Player Games: The seventh game is called "Scoring Streak". You select your difficulty level - 3 seconds to make a shot, 2 seconds to make a shot, or 1.4 seconds to make a shot. You select your length of play - 100 points, 200 points, or 400 points. The goal is to get to your target score before your opponent. You get extra points for making consecutive shots. If the next shot is not made during a time period, the streak is broken. The eighth game is called "Black Jack". You select your difficulty level- only 1 shot per player counts toward present value, all shots count toward present value, or the first shot made by either player counts toward present value. Values change every 3 seconds. Whomever scores 21 first without "busting" wins. The ninth game is called "Shot Clock". Select your difficulty level - number of lives. You get 24 seconds to out score your opponent. Shots are worth three points during the last eight seconds of each round. Whomever still has lives remaining at the end wins. Multi-Player Games: The tenth game is called "Cross Fire". Select the number of players on each team - between 2 and 9 players per team. Shoot at the opponents basket to take them out. Three shots in your basket and you're dead. The team with remaining lives wins. This game can also be played as a double player game with each person having multiple lives. The eleventh game is called "Substitution". Select the number of quarters you want to play - between 1 and 4. Select the number of players on each team - between 3 and 9 players per team. Assign each player a number (up to the number of players on that team). Jump in the game when your number is called and after each player has had a turn shooting, the quarter is over. The twelfth game is called "Playoff". Select the number of players on each team - between 4 and 16 players per team. Work your way up the brackets. Play for the championship, the qualifying round establishes the seeding for the playoff games. Side note: The Double Shot also allows you to simply shoot baskets. When you first turn on the basketball arcade, it will give you the option to "Just Shoot". Shoot baskets and it will keep score.
We didn't expect this game to be this much FUN!
First off this Double Shot Arcade System is a TON of FUN!. It's just like having a carnival game right in your own house. Multiple times over the last couple weeks, my wife and I challenged each other at the various games available to see who is the King/Queen of the house. My daughter loves to shoot around each day whether by herself or with her friends. The game is well made, the rims and backboard are really nice quality and I would expect it to bring years of fun family competition to our home and family reunions. This game is big (as other reviewers have stated) and takes up some space. Half way through the assembly, I wasn't sure if I would be able to stand the unit upright since the play room has a low ceiling height, but after a suggestion from my wife, removing a couple bolts, and adjusting the game to the lowest settings, we were able to get it to fit as seen in the pictures and finished the assembly. There is literally a couple inches between the game (at its lowest setting) and the ceiling and it takes up allot of real estate in the room. The tools supplied in the kit work, but I would highly recommend saving your hands and some time by using a socket wrench, a longer handled Allen wrench, and a standard screwdriver for the assembly. I believe the complete assembly took a little over three hours, but would have been allot less if we had a bigger area for assembly and had taller ceilings in the basement. The supplied pump worked fine to inflate the basketballs and I thought it was nifty that the pump needle stores in the handle. The only draw back was that the power cord was not long enough to connect to the closest outlet in the room, so we ended up using batteries to run the scoreboard and games. One less cord to have to worry about in the kids toy room. The Double Shot came with a card you can hang on the front to see all the game options. It's easy to start and change the sound levels up and down. This helps a ton when my daughter wants to play while the babies are napping. It's also convenient that the game folds up when not in use, but we usually keep it down and the kids use it as a play fort. The double sensors on each rim are also really accurate as we haven't seen any miscounting during game play. So in the end, I would highly recommend this to any family wanting a sweet game to add to their home or game room. We have honestly had a ton of family fun, friendly competition, and plenty of pushing and laughing moments playing against each other and friends.
                        So Much FUN!
I continue to be pleased with every Lifetime product I have. The products are well made and the packaging for shipment is great. If ordering off their website - delivery has always been fast. . I look forward to years of fun with this on the double shot arcade system. I received it earlier in the month but it was at a recent cook-out at my house that 2 of my son-in-laws assembled it. They worked together and had it up quickly. The tools included worked but they found a regular wrench and socket set worked better. Also the pump that was included to inflate the basketballs worked but a bicycle pumped worked better. But what was included certainly would have gotten the job done. It was assembled on our back deck and once assembled all the kids young and old (including the adults) shot baskets. There are several different games to play with it. I am sure we will try all of them. I know my grandchildren will want to play with it every time they come over. When they were done playing - it folded up without a problem and was easily carried to the garage. I continue to recommend Lifetime products to friends and family.
Well made and tons of fun!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Once assembled, the Double Shot Arcade System is tons of fun. We set this up in our garage and my oldest child (8+ yrs old) has played multiple times everyday since. It is a pretty large unit, so make sure you take the space requirements into account before starting. I initially started putting this together in our family room and quickly realized it was too large for that, so I paused and relocated everything to the garage. There are plenty of different game options and the included game-card that can hang on the front is a nice touch. We haven't grown tired of the options yet. The quality of materials is good and there were no missing parts. I was very pleased with how solid the backboard and rims are. The basketballs are good too, but having a larger pump than the small included pump is a life saver. It does takes two people to fold/unfold the unit as the pictures show. I think this will be a VERY durable unit for the average household and would probably hold up pretty well in an environment where it was used more heavily (church, rec. center, etc). A few notes on assembly: I would classify myself as well above average on the DIY scale (I've made a living as a contractor at times) and this unit took a solid 2.5-3 hours to assemble. Also, the included tools will get the job done, but if you have real wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, etc it will be substantially faster and easier on your hands. The instructions are pretty clear, just be sure to follow them closely. One of the last steps is to install the wired remote control and I didn't find the instructions overly clear about how that was attached--There is no nut in that location, but there is one integrated into the back of the control--This might be obvious to some, but it took a little head-scratching for me. Overall we are very pleased with the Double Shot and would easily recommend it to our friends...actually, we already have!
Great Idea, but Sensor Doesn't Work
I was most excited to give this to my children for Christmas. Assembly wasn't so bad, wasn't that heavy in the box either. Delivery men kindly brought it into my garage for me to hide from my children until Christmas Day. My Dad and I put it together, and when finished we were so excited to see the kids have hours of fun with it. Unfortunately the sensors don't work property and the kids were super upset playing each other. Both my Dad and I made several shots as well and confirmed. Every other shot was not registering, and many that were just hitting the rim only and not going in were counted as shots. I think I got a faulty sensor. I triple checked and the cords in the back are to the proper boxes, and again some are registering as shots on each side, but most are not. Very disappointed. I do not want to disassemble this entire thing again to return so hoping Lifetime will be able to fix it.
