Questions & Answers

Does it turn off the light when there's already a light or daylight?

Asked by: Moe
The Ceiling Mount 360 will activate whenever a person or pet comes within range. Ambient lighting has no effect on whether this motion detector functions (activates lights) or not.

Will this item work if there is a dimmer upstream governing the power supply? My theoretical setup would have a dedicated controller switch on the wall for light level / fan speed, with one or both going through a motion sensor afterwards. The datasheet says "no minimum load" but this sensor uses the power destined for the fixture, would a voltage below 120VAC affect operation? Is there an alternate model that takes a separate dedicated line power? Thanks --
Asked by: Poland
I would say you deffinatly do not want to supply power to the motion sensor through a dimmer switch! You would likely fry the sensor! You can tap into the power source before the dimmer and supply your new infrared unit to your lighting. If you are wanting to use both the dimmer and sensor on the same light, I would just get rid of the dimmer all together and possibly use smaller wattage bulb/s.

Can the sensor be removed from the base and used in a more low profile manner?

I am looking to purchase a platform bed in which the platform extends beyond the mattress. My concern is running into the edge in the middle of the night when it is dark. The bed has lights built into the underside of the platform, but only a switch on one side. I would like to know if I can drill a small hole at the horizontal footer and install this sensor in a more discreet manner to activate the lights if we return from the restroom while in the dark.
