Answer This Question

A:  Barn doors do not have a bottom track…that hang from the above railing. One less thing to trip on.

Decent door solution, no handles though
Basic solution, probably ahould have gotten something more as this is a very basic door set. No handles so I have to cut recessed handles out.

This is a substantial barn door and came with very attractive wrought iron hardware. I had to look hard to find a door small enough for my needs and this fit the bill. We did have to add wood to the door frame to fill in the space so no one could see in the bathroom when the door was closed.

These doors are beautiful and a significant upgrade to our room, but they were difficult to install and should only be hung by someone who is multi talented and knows how to solve construction problems. The hardware that comes with them allows for installation in drywall, concrete, wood, etc. however, we were not satisfied with the hardware options for the track or handles. We would very much like a more subtle track and bar hardware. The doors themselves are heavy and solid and look fantastic!

Barn doors are very trendy but the rustic look of most wouldn't work for us. This looks great and fits our décor well. Very heavy, substantial all around. There are several things to keep in mind here. 1. This isn't a simple installation for beginners or first time DIYers. Measure very carefully and be precise with leveling. Not excessively difficult but precision and planning matters 2. Note in the description that the door should be at least 4" wider than the opening so a 36" door is good for a 30-32" opening, not a 36 as it won't give sufficient overlap for privacy. 3. The mounting board is included as is the wall mount bottom slide so you don't have to rout the groove at the bottom of the door. 4. The included pictogram instructions are insufficient, download the full instructions found on this page 5. This comes via truck freight and is standing upright in box supported by an X structure on a pallet and the whole thing is wrapped in plastic. The door and hardware weigh 94 lbs but with the pallet it is over 150 lbs. Be prepared for heavy lifting and pallet disposal.

We were looking for a closet door for our walk in side closet and not wanting to go with the traditional closet door we decided to go with this "Barn Door" Style. I am so glad we did. It looks great and operates very smoothly. The hardest part was understanding the instructions. It took me about 40 minutes to fully understand them. There are NO written instructions, they were all by Illustration. Some of the illustration was clear but there was some measuring that was not very clear. They should have put in a legend to explain what "H" meant. -Look at the last 2 Photos for the installation instructions with my notes added to help you with the installation. After I figured what "H" meant everything else made perfect sense and then the installation took about 2 hours by myself, but use caution this door is a solid door and is very heavy. H= the height of your door that you are installing. (mine was 84" high so..in my case 84"+1 3/4" = 85 3/4" this will be the height of the Bolts from the floor See photo #3) Forget measuring each bolt height and space just do the following. Measure the height in several spots and then I raised the the black rail bar up against the wall at the height marks and figured out how much railing on each side of the door opening I needed, and then marked a few hole. Drilled one hole near the center of the rail placement and "installed" the rail against the wall using one bolt. Leveled out the railing bar and double checked the other measurement line, and then drilled the remaining holes while the black rail was up against the wall and level. Once completed I removed the bolt and railing, and then proceeded with step 2B. This will save you time and guess work. Solid wood install use 1/2 Pilot hole Drywall/Masonry install use 3/8 " pilot hole -don't tap the anchors all the way into the walls or they may spin as you screw in the bolts. Leave about an 1/2" of the anchor end exposed and place the metal spacers on to them. The metal spacers will help hold the anchors in place and keep them from spinning. If you use a Power drill use a 1/2" socket and set the drill to the lowest setting and drill in slowly so the anchors don't spin. Note that when you are ready to install the stops you will have remove the bolts on the ends to allow you to slip the door stops on the railing on step 7 and then reinstall them. The floor guide you get may be one with a groove or one with a "U" shape holder. The instructions only give you the Groove install. Mine had the "U" shape holder but installing it is just like any closet door install and should be easy enough to figure out. Final note - no handles so we will install handles latter but that is good because then we can decide exactly what style we would like for the door.

The 36 in. x 84 in. Smooth Carrara Primed Molded MDF Barn Door with Black Sliding Door Hardware Kit may look beautiful on your wall once you get it hung - but say a prayer that even happens! First off, the delivery team was great and the packaging was superb, but the instructions are pictures only (have fun). The written out instructions are on the product vendor website, but confusing is a very tame word to use: keep in mind - expert home builders would have fun with this project, but a regular joe-schmoe owning some household tools and having a little know-how will not. Our door took an entire weekend of conscience planning, thought, and minute by minute deliberating between our two grown men. And, hours upon hours of mental preparation to ensure we dont rip down the wall or drill 50 wrong holes is definitely too mind-labor intensive for just one door. (and PS - no handle is included, so either push open and pull shut with hands leaving marks on the door, or go back to the store and purchase the handles of your choice because none are included).

Great door, contractor said it was relatively easy to install. The biggest issue we ran into was that it wasn’t remotely flush with our doorway - there was a good inch of space that didn’t allow any privacy for our bathroom. We worked around that by beefing up our door trim and adjusting the rail hardware. It looks great!

The doors are a solid composite material and the finish of the metal is very nice. The instructions are not detailed enough and my set shipped with two different sets of bolts for bolting the hardware to the doors and both sets were too long so I had to go out and buy 3/8 by 2 inch bolts in addition to the 2.5" and 3" bolts it shipped with. Thats mostly where the 3 stars come from, would probably be a 5 otherwise, although the instructions could be a little more detailed.

No surprises with the product. It came as advertised. I put two doors on one track and did not have the "optional" joiner for the track and needed to improvise. The doors are very heavy and needed two people to lift. Packaging and delivery could use some improvements. Plan on helping the truck driver unload.

The instructions weren't great. But we finally got the two doors up, leveled and aligned. Once we closed the door we realized the door seam wasn't flat. So we checked and made sure the doors tops and bottoms were aligned and ya the door itself is curved. We paid $1,200 for these. Not happy.
