What is the shackle clearence when open? i see that it is 1in when closed
The shackle height is only measured with the lock is closed.

If the lock is truly "unlocked", just look at the numbers that the lock is currently set to. But is the lock really "unlocked", or just open? It can be open, yet still in a locked setting. You can find out by closing the lock.
The factory set code is 0000. Use the instructions to set a new code. If this lock has been used and you don’t know the code, you will have to find a locksmith.

How to i reset the code when we forget what the code was when we sat it the first time?
You must keep a record of input code for future information. You are provided with a reset key to use in order to change the lock combination. Again be sure to keep a record of the changed input combination.
It cannot be reset without unlocking the lock with the combination. This prevents anyone else from opening the lock. When the lock is open there is a key to insert and change the combination.
If you don’t have your key pin that came with your lock you might be able to use a pin to stratal the pins underneath the lock. Once you unlock it first it would take a long time to turn the dial under the lock but it would take you a long time , if your able to unlock then reset it simple and write it on a piece of paper and Hide it where you normally would not forget where the new code is . IF THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU AND IS TAKING TOO LONG BUY ANOTHER LOCK AND IT WOULD BE WORTH IT. This Master lock is a good price and sturdy .
Can I order a number of them and use the same key for all of them but have different codes?

it is a small, silver key with a single lug and round tip
Looks like a small key for a very small lock.
Small PLASTIC "key" that fits into lower side of lock. I would imagine they are ALL the same, the security is that you have to know the combination to open the lock to "reset" the combination.
It looks like a small skeleton key. you have to dial the current combination, insert and turn the key 90*, dial the new combo, then remove the key.
