Regular 1" long hex bits without lock groove, will they lock into these securely?

Hi, Mike. The Milwaukee 5-Piece Hex Bit Holder with Carabiner uses an internal hex design with dual-ball retention to hold bits securely. This means it grips the ¼" hex shank itself, not a locking groove. Therefore, regular 1" long hex bits without a lock groove will still lock in securely. You simply push the bit in, and the retention balls hold it in place, no extra steps or two-handed operation required.

    Does it take two hands to pull bit n push r pull holder at same time to release a bit? Or can u pull down on holder with one hand to release? Also can u push bits in without having to push or pull retainer?

    1 hand and just push in the bit. It will open on its own to allow the bit to go in and lock.

        this is an awesome product. it allows you to keep all your bits with you. way better than a single extra one clipped to your tool. quick release buttons work good.

        A must if you get the Milwaukee pack out backpack
        I bought this about 2 months ago. I have it on my Milwaukee pack out backpack and is a great attachment to it. Makes my work a lot easier, without having to dig through my bag and find the bit I need. Overall happy with the quality of the product, as well as retentions great and haven’t lost any bit.

          Nice to have hanging from belt readily (locking carabiner too) available or contained on a ring close by so not having to search for a particular bit often found during remodeling when there’s always a mix & match of fasteners. Also beats having to resort going to find the Shockwave set ! The 1/4” hex bit holder(s) are suited for 2” or longer bits Not for the 1”variety that although fit, they’ll be hard to extract. Push-in spring positively self locks the bits in place with an easy release, plus both on/off removal can be done one handed. The knurled section for grasping with thumb and index finger portion works out nice for release, no dragging no catching or hang up. It’s a bit heavy, probably more than it needs to be. The holders are bulky but industrial-strength, quality built expect no weak link here. My setup here for demonstration weighs in at a whopping 11.7 ounces more or less depends.

          Love this thing! Its so convenient and well built. Its slightly heavier than other brands but it is definitely made much more sturdy! Would recommend it to anyone who works on ladders and tall platforms especially!

          Very handy for hanging on to bits. Bits secure lock simply by pushing the bits in, no need to depress the plunger except for release. They are a bit wide for holding 1/4" bits, but I can see that being useful for people in the trades wearing gloves.
