Great little square to have on hand. Excellent quality, the construction is hard coated anodized aluminum so the graduations and lettering will not wear off and become unreadable with heavy use. All of the graduations, except for the degrees of angle, are in metric which now days sometimes come in handy as more and more things are becoming metric. The edges of the square are machined not cast for accuracy. It's compact size makes it easy to slip into your tool bag and that's just one less thing you have to carry around separately.

This is a metric version of a rafter square. So make sure that is what you want before buying it. The gradations are etched into the device so they won’t wear off after use. The color is red which provides a good contrast so the numbers are easier to read. It is made of a thick metal which should make for a long life.

Basically, this has a lot of nice features, and looks extremely handsome. It’s very rugged aluminum frame, with web thickness of 5 mm (approximately 0.2”). I definitely like the high visibility the white laser etched markings on the red background. Very attractive. If you never used a rafter square before, it’s definitely worth watching some of the instruction ideas on U-tube. Note that this is a metric unit, so the markings to scribe parallel cuts along a board are in metric. It has a square hole which they suggest you can use it to support a pipe. I think this is kind of a joke, but the hole makes a handy finger hole for carrying the tool. The "squareness" appears to be off by a couple thousands of an inch over the full length of the square. The 90 and 45 degree surfaces are machined, but what is unusual is that some of the machined surfaces have very smooth machining marks, but then right beside it, the machine markings are more course (see photo). I’m guessing their machining practices during their manufacturing processes is an accurate belt sander. These machining marks really doesn’t affect the function ability of the tool, and probably not even noticed by most workers. Certainly would not be a big enough issue to keep from buying it.

As a DIY wood worker I am finding it more and more easier to work with the metric system, so getting a good metric square was high on my “get new tool” list. Milwaukee has always been a name associated with quality tools. So When I got a chance to get this, I knew it was going to be good. The square is true, edges flat and markings are clear and not going anywhere soon (laser etched). I think for most people this square it going to exceed your needs.

Beautifully machined with highly visible markings
Purchased for making furniture.
The milled edges sit flush to wood surface allowing for smooth straight lines with a fine point pencil. The rounded corners will help avoid marring wood.
