So far so good. It has lived up to its word, and also quality enough to have and wear the Millwaukee name.
I have tested it against my tape time and time again, and it has been on every single time. I still, maybe because I am weird, check it against my tape once or twice a project just to make sure, but it has thus far, about a month of use, been dead on.

Excellent measuring tool
Although steel tape measurers work just fine, this laser measurer is an excellent substitute in many situations. Also , this meter works up to 330 feet and I’m not aware of any tape measurer that is that long. Also, this laser meter will calculate area and volume. It also has a built in level so you know if it is level before you take your measurements. When you turn the meter on, it immediately starts displaying measurements and it continues to show measurements in real time. I found that with greater distances, it can be a little slower to update, probably because I wasn’t holding it very steady. This meter can be mounted to a tripod and I suspect the long distances would read quicker if it was mounted steadily on a tripod. This unit will store multiple measurements but I’m not actually sure how many. You can set this so it measures from the front and back of the unit. It also has a tab that comes out of the back of the unit and if that is deployed, it measures to the end of the tab. The product literature says it is accurate to 1/16 of an inch and in my very un-scientific tests, that seems about right. The display is very clear and easy to read. The exterior of this unit is rubberized and seems very sturdy. It also comes with a heavy nylon case. I am impressed with the meter and would definitely recommend it.
This Milwaukee 150 ft. Laser Distance Meter is the most accurate, easy, fast with instant real-time reading and ergonomically designed measuring tool I've ever used. AND it is so simple to use you don’t need an engineering or mathematics degree. Tool has auto shut-off so you don’t drain the batteries in the field.
Very well designed and engineered to be truly useful in a large variety of applications. Features include a side button lock-on reading, back-lit easy to read color screen is 1 1/4 by 1 ½ inch, impact over-molded protection, threaded brass tripod mounting hole and useful functions like Length, Surface Area, Total Area and Volume. You can also set Units, Audio and Language. Units available are; 0' 00" 1/32", 0" 1/32", 0.000FT and 0.000M. Readings can be set from the TOP, BOTTOM and from a lever extension off the bottom. Languages are English, Spanish and French. Audio is simply on, a beep and off, no beep. Uses 2 AAA size batteries, included along with a well padded, Velcro close belt pouch. OH YES, I almost forgot, the last 20 measurement calculations are stored in history, not the measurements themselves but the calculation results are.
The readout screen is difficult to see in full sunlight and needs to be shielded to see, the laser is difficult to see in bright sunlight but still works well.
I am a Milwaukee UBER fanboy. I love their tools, M12, M18, hand tools, tool boxes, clothing, etc. I have been using the blue brand for years when it comes to lasers. When Milwaukee came out with this guy, I thought I would give it a try. When I got this, I thought the color screen would be a gimmick, but when comparing it to my other lasers, the screen is so much easier to see. The level is a nice touch too, when comparing the level on this tool to a Milwaukee Redstick level, they seemed to read the same (as much as a bubble can compare to digital). When comparing distance measurements to the blue brand, it was equal too or at worst 1/8th of an inch off. If super accuracy is demanded, a tape measure with 64th inch markings would probably be better in some cases. This tool will measure from the front, the back or even the side. If you are measuring the height of a house that has a deck on it, not a big deal, there is a setting so you can take indirect measurements to calculate the height if there is an obsticle between the ground and the roof. This laser is also easier to use than the blue brand in fuction and menu navigation. I'll just say that my blue brand lasers are going in the garage sale pile. Oh yeah, this works off 2 AAA batteries vs having a rechargeable battery built in, which is so much nicer on a jobsite if you are using at the batteries die. This you can change the batteries, one of the blue brand ones I have I would have to charge it and wait til I it had enough battery for me to finish my work.
This small laser measuring tool is very accurate and very easy to use. It will measure very accurately up to 65'. I measured many different areas and items with both a standard steel tape measure and the laser measuring tool. This tool is just as accurate as the tape but is so much easier to use since it can used by just one person. With a long tape you really need someone holding the free end of the tape to make sure it stays hooked where it needs to be for an accurate measurement. With this tool there is no need for someone to hold the free end of the tape.
The tool is small (1 1/2"wide x 4" long x 7/8" thick) so it's very easy to keep handy in a pocket or use the belt clip. The readout for whole numbers is large enough to be easily read but the fraction read out is on the small side and hard for me to read. I do like the hold function, take one measurement tap the power button and it stores the reading on the screen. Take another measurement tap the power button again and you have both measurements stored on the screen, this can be done for up to three measurements. No need to try and remember them or write them down. Very handy!
Overall this is outstanding value for your money; the cost of this is almost the same as most good quality steel tape measures of 30' but this laser can take measurements out to 65'. And since you won't need anyone to anchor the end of the tape it's worth every cent.
Life can get lonely. The Milwaukee 330 ft. Laser Distance Meter doesn't alleviate the loneliness as now you won't need another person to hold the end of your tape measure. All inclusive math computer with simple point and click measuring capability. No more arguing about who has to walk the tape measure out to make measurements. I love this tool. Having carpet installed? Measure out your own calculations and compare them to the carpet employee's. Save yourself from carrying a ladder around to make floor to ceiling measurement. Sounds like we may gain weight using this Milwaukee 330 ft. Laser Distance Meter.
The package contains the meter, batteries, instruction booklet and a carrying pouch. The pouch has a belt loop type sleeve where you need to slide your belt through it. Not a clip on. The instruction book is very good and walks you through any computations. There is a learning curve but the instruction book can be folded and put into the carrying pouch with the meter. I dropped this tool three times from under my chin and it stayed on. To some degree, the laser works outside. I have not read anything anywhere that it is outdoor readable. At six feet, the beam dot was very visible. I don't know for sure how far, if at all, outside measurements are available or accurate. My six foot test was accurate. Extremely light weight, durable and even outside, the screen is exceptionally readable. One hand operation. Made in China.
I bought a laser distance meter a few years back, mostly on a whim, never really thinking that I would use it as much as I have or like it as much as I do. Measuring a room for carpet or tile takes seconds. Same with measuring for gutters -- and no need to bribe the wife to come out in the cold and get up on the ladder to hold the other end of the tape.
That said, my god have these things come a long way. There are still features on my Bosch GLM 80 that I can't figure out how to use. This new model from Milwaukee really represents a huge leap forward, both in function and usability. It has a backlit color screen and simple, easy-to-read menus. It defaults to continuous, real-time measurements, and you just push the button to save the measurement. It automatically detects when you flip out the lever to take a measurement in a corner, and adjusts accordingly. It is water, dust, and shock resistant. It has a level bar along the side of the display that shows a green dot when the device is level (it also shows angles in degrees), and it has a tremendously useful auto-level feature that locks in a measurement automatically when the meter reaches level (just press and hold the function [OK] button). It can store 30 measurements in memory, and it can calculate length, surface area, total area, volume, or indirect height/length (using the built-in digital level to calculate the angle of the hypotenuse) or indirect height given two angled lengths. Best of all, it is just as accurate as claimed, and measured against my Bosch and a Komelon tape, it only showed 1/16" difference or less in a measurement of more than 25 ft.
I have a good friend who is a roofer who was intrigued by my old laser meter but said it was way too complicated for him to use. Something tells me this one is going to change his mind ...
The Milwaukee laser meter can go up to 65 ft. The nice thing about the meter is you can save up to three readings. After you aim at your spot hit the top button again and it will save on your screen. This is handy so you don't have to write down your measurements on a piece of paper.
There is also a side button in case needed if you hand is in tight spaces. I think it is convenient. The sides have a nice rubbery grip. The only thing I don't like is the clip on the back. It is too small for a clipboard or on my belt. It's useless so i took it off.
This is the worst measuring device I have ever used. Unreliable, unusable. The device has not worked properly since the day I picked it up. Save yourself the cash and just buy something else.
