Just find a stud and use the holes in the middle to secure it. Use a level to make sure the stud has been hit.

Review for Large Wallplate 48-22-8487
Very happy with the wall plates with one issue. The tool boxes with the metal guard rails (i.e.: 48-22-8424) will not allow another box or organizer to be mounted next to them as they are wider than the other tool boxes.
Since this is an integrated system, I fault the wall plate dimensions, not the boxes. Too bad as I really like the boxes with the metal rails but will be returning mine for a smaller width box.

Great system
Got this for one of the walls of my van to complete my modular storage set up. Extremely easy to install keeps everything very organized well-made have no idea what the complaints are about? Great way to keep things organized and save space plus they look awesome.

Hold accessories securely
This compact wall plate mounts easily and securely thanks to the metal reinforced mounting holes. Accessories are easily attached and removed and hanging multiple wall plates is easy with the incorporated alignment tabs.
While I have no complaint with this product itself, I do wish the accessories came with the option to mount without the plates, such as the long handle tool holder accessory shown in the photo.
The plates work great when using a combination of accessories but shouldn't be required to use a single accessory.

caution! may not work.
if you are buying to hold a large (4 leg) and small (2 leg) box it will not work. You will need a separate medium and small wall plate. I will use these on the wall instead.
