Questions & Answers

Do these crimp mc4 connectors?
ByJul 29, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

No — the Milwaukee Ratcheting Insulated Terminals Crimper is designed for insulated electrical terminals, not for MC4 solar connectors.

What does this tool do that a pair of pliers won't do.
    ByDec 23, 2025

    Answer This Question

A ratcheting insulated terminals crimper is purpose-built to create secure, code-compliant electrical connections, something pliers can’t reliably achieve. It uses a ratcheting mechanism to apply consistent, controlled pressure, ensuring a proper gas-tight crimp without damaging the insulation. Unlike pliers, it won’t release until the crimp is complete, reducing the risk of loose connections, overheating, or short circuits. This design also minimizes hand fatigue and meets electrical standards, making it essential for safe, professional-quality wiring work.

Will it work for 6 gauge ring terminal?

        Answer This Question

Hi, John. Unfortunately, it does not support crimping for 6 gauge ring terminals. For crimping 6 gauge ring terminals, you might consider the M18™ FORCE LOGIC™ 750 MCM Dieless Crimper (2877-22), which supports connections under UL 486A-B for #6 - 750 MCM Cu and dual-rated connectors.

This is actually a follow up question to the answer of "No". How is a ferrule crimp different than a fork, ring, spade, bullet or butt connector crimp?

Best crimperI've used. Worth every penny.
Loved with cheap crimpers for too many years working on automotive electrical repairs. Bought this based on Milwaukee reputation and experience with lots of Milwaukee tools. It didn't disappoint. It's solid and hefty in my hand and easy to use - it's ratching mechanism is much easier than cheapos - and the crimps are always strong and reliable without damaging the insulator. Highly recommend!

                      Milwaukee 48-22-3084
I’ve been looking for a good crimper. And I really like this one. And one of my favorite things about it is it’s insulated. Which means on occasions where I can’t turn the power off I can still make a secure connection when crimping is needed. I usually use it for smaller cramps, like for receptacles on the ground cables or wiring on automobiles. Another cool thing I like about it is it’s labeled with the different sizes and it also has the color coordination for the sizes that’s on packaging of the connector you’re going to use. I really do enjoy using it. I would much rather crimp together a bunch of ground wires than putting a giant wire nut on them. The crimps that does are very clean And secure. The tool itself is heavy duty and I know it’s going to last me a long time. The ratcheting on it is nice because it doesn’t have much slack between each ratchet. And that’s kind of what you want with this type of tool. Each click you hear is a tooth grabbing to help crimp. And you’ll know you got a good crimp because the tool won’t release until you squeeze it down as far down as it can go. It does have a little lever to release it if you have to like if you are off on your crimp and want to restart.

Looks great and will last a long time
This crimper is a keeper. Because of traveling to harsh work sites, I usually buy cheap, disposable crimpers. Those are good values but they don't last a year. I finally got my hands on a very durable pair that looks great in my Milwaukee Packout. For my 10-18AWG wires, these do the job and there is no worries about destroying them because they fell 20 feet off a scissors lift. My only complaint is they are on the heavy side but that's the trade off for being durable. They feel good in my hands and I love the looks.

                      Wire Crimper
This tool by Milwaukee fills a requirement if you deal with electrical wires requiring them to be crimped. From wire size 22-18 (red couplings), wire size 16-14 (blue couplings) and wire size 12-10 (yellow couplings), this tool fits the bill. Proving plenty of crimping power, you’ll finish your job quickly. And as a Milwaukee tool you can be confident the tool will last a long time.

Very well made and works great
I have been working as a electrican / electrical tech for the last 40 years now and have used alot of crimpers over the years. I got these to replace another brand I had for years. They have not disaponited me at all. they are well made and work great. The pressure adjustment adjust perfectly and they fit your hand with out causing hand fatigue if you have to make alot of crimps at one time. The size is marked well with color and number size. They lock shut for storage in your tool box or pouch, Have replaceable jaws and is a must have tool for electrical work. Again well made compact size only about 2LBS and the lock release works smoothly. The big plus is they crimp great no issues.

Comfortable grip, adjustable force, nice crimps, ratcheting, and quick release lever.
I love fixing and building portable solar power stations, installing car electronics, and other low voltage projects. I do AC electrical, too, but not as often. This crimper works for cables from 10 to 22 awg. Reading the sizes are easy because they are stamped and color coded. The handle is nice and comfortable to hold even after a lot of use during long projects. I like that this is a ratcheting crimper. Sometimes, I might drop something and need to let go of the handle. The handle will stay crimped until I fully squeeze it. If I can't squeeze it anymore to unlock it, there is a quick release button. I really like being able to dial in the crimp force. Sometimes, I'm dealing with thicker heavy-duty 10awg cables and need a strong bite. Other times, I'm using smaller 22awg cable, and it doesn't need so much force depending on the connectors. This does make great crimps. None of my connectors accidentally come off even if I pull on them. This is a great tool to have in my electronics tool kit bag.

                      Handy Tool
Milwaukee Ratcheting Insulated Terminals Crimper Is a very well made tool! Let me start by saying the things I really like, it is a Milwaukee product so you know if by chance there is an issue with tool, just contact the company and they will make it right! It feels well balanced, has great gripping red handles the red color makes them easy to distinguish from other tools( time saver ). It will work with 18-10 gauge stranded copper wire, ratcheting compound action provides complete crimps, high-contrast color coded markings, it features a crimping force adjustment dial( see red circle in photo ) and a quick-release lever! That said I wish they made different replacement ends for different types of terminals!

                      Nice Crimpers
It was nice to receive my Milwaukee ratcheting insulated terminals crimpers. These are very handy to have when I'm working on wiring in my classic cars. They crimp many different sizes of wiring. The yellow crimp slot does 10 to 12 gauge wires, the blue crimp slot does 14 to 16 gauge wires & the red crimp slot does 18 to 22 gauge wiring. I tried them out on a few terminals and they work great. These crimpers also have a lock release which is great to have. Milwaukee sure makes some quality tools.

                      Great crimper
This is a really nice ratcheting insulated terminals crimper. Set up for your basic red, blue, or yellow butt connector. It operates super smoothly, and what I really like about it is that it is easy to squeeze and fits my hand nice. I have another one made by brand K, and it crimps nice, but is more difficult for my small sized hands to grip, even though they look near identical to each other. This crimper has an adjustment wheel to let you change the crimp depth. Pretty nice.
