How far out from the wall does the storage rack hang (just the rack, not the bikes themselves)?

The rack by itself only extends about 6" from the wall, however, when you add the necessary hook, it ends up being about 11" from the wall.

Can you hook this rack up to a cement wall?

What size wheel does this take? Will a 29er fit, or only 26"?

It holds all wheel sizes. When the tire and wheel Width is wider than 3 inches the wheels won’t fit. No fat tire bikes

I'm sure it means the rack is rated for 200lbs. 1200lbs would be excessive! I have five bikes on mine, three adult bikes and two children's bikes all of the mountain bike variety (read heavy). It's pretty stout as long as you have it anchored into studs I think it will be ok.

can you hang this rack on garage ceiling and use it to hang bike wheels? how long are the hooks

Yes, you could mount the rack on the ceiling and use it for only hanging bike tires. The hooks are approximately 5 inches long.

How far from the ceiling must you mount the bracket to give yourself enough clearance to hang bicycles?

I mounted about a foot from the ceiling. It still leaves around 9" of space to the ceiling once the bikes are hung. There's a 700C, 26" MTB, 24", and 20" bikes hanging on it now

Wrong hooks
Customer review from homedepot.ca logo
Rack arrived quickly but is not as advertised. The hooks in the photo on the Monkeybar website are straight out from the plate that holds them which puts them at 45 degrees to the wall, which is perfect for holding a bicycle tire. THe hooks on that came in the box are bent at 45 degrees to the plate that holds them which make them parallel to either the wall or the floor. at this angle and distance from the wall it is pretty much impossible to mount a bike with mountain bike tires on the hook. I have sent two emails to Moneybars and have yet to receive a response?? Can I get straight hooks?

This product is complete junk! They took a system for hanging lawn tools, added a different hook, and called it a bike rack. The supplied hook does not securely hold a bike. Bikes do not hang straight even when the the brackets themselves are level. They have grossly overestimated it's capacity and weight capacity. I hung three adult mountain bikes, a child's bike and a unicycle and the main bar bows badly. The metal components in this system simply were not made for this kind of weight. Also, getting six actual adult mountain bikes on the bar is theoretically possible, but you better hope you never need to get one down. It is such a tangled mess that it is nearly impossible to just remove one bike. I wish someone had posted a review here detailing the actual abilities and quality of this system before I spent nearly $90 on about $10 worth of materials.

Prefect for not evenly spaced studs
Customer review from homedepot.ca logo
Bought this model specifically because for some reason the studs in my garage are not evenly spaced. There are very few racks with this capacity that can accommodate that issue. Very easy to install once you find your studs. Minimal sag in the bar with two kids bikes and four full size bikes hanging. Perfect for my needs.

This storage rack was very easy to install. I had it up in about 20 minutes. It is very secure and currently holds 5 of our 6 bikes(3 adult and 2 children’s) The only reason the 6th bike isn’t up is due to its inner rim which doesn’t fit in the hooks. Well worth the money!
