What color does this come out like after mixing. It looks yellow. How do I get a example/picture of color. I want an off white / tan color.
Asked by: Jeanine
Attached is an image from my testing. Results are 1.5 lbs of color per 80 lb bag of concrete (Sakrete 80 lbs 5000 PSI) and I reduced amounts and poured 10lb samples. Left = Tan from New Look Right = Buff from Sakrete I am a total novice and do suggest to pour some of your own samples as cement color, water content, etc can change. the resulting color.

How many 2lb jars for 10 80 lb bags quickcrete

Under the instructions/Assembly link it states 1 lb. Per 94 lb./80 lb bag. So you would need 5 each of the 2lb. Jars.

I have some exterior synthetic stone made of concrete that color needs touched up as clay dirt stain on stone. Can this be used with water and sponged on the synthetic stone to touch it up some as synthetic stone just has a dye in it and if you spray wash--the dye comes off. Would this product work just with water as a paste to dye some of the stone?
Asked by: terri
No, this can not be used with water and sponged on the synthetic stone.

To address a question about color, you should really pour some test samples. I am a complete novice and had the same question and here are my results... For my testing I used the tan color and 80 lbs Sakrete 5000 PSI concrete which is the standard grey color. I decided to pour a 10 lb sample which translates to 3 oz colorant and used a digital scale to weigh both cement and color to convince myself of accuracy. There is a single image with Tan from New Look lightly sanded. I have added a second image with Tan New Look (not sanded) on the left and Sakrete Buff on the right. The Buff seems to show more of a peach color if you will. Again, suggest to do your own testing and let dry. Because I have to choose, I can not say I recommend or not recommend for all as the color is not completely what I was expecting looking at the website but works for my project. As for quality, I am in the testing phases so longevity, fade, etc I have marked average and the same for value. Hope this helps

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great - Make Sure and Add Enough When ever using concrete color I always use double the suggested amount, never more than the max allowed. After mixing, the color appears MUCH darker than the finished product, but once it dries, the color lightens up quite a bit. A common issue DIYers have is they add just enough color to match the color they want. The problem is once it dries, the color lightens up dramatically, so it appears washed out or really faded. If you hosed down a typical gray concert slab it would go from light gray to dark gray once the water soaked in, which is a huge change in the color. So make sure you add enough color to darken it, so when it dries you will end up with the color you want. Side Note / Example: I saw a review where someone had added a half bottle of black to a 90lb bag, and they were upset that the final color was not a true black?!?!?!? it would probably take 4 bottles to even get it close. I ended up using (3) bottles of this for each 90lb bag of concrete and it came out perfect. Use as little water as you can, use the exact same amount of water for each bag, and be VERY careful if you are mist curing the concrete as that added water will have an effect on the color. BUT this is true of every manufacturer. New Look also sells a stain in the same colors as the integral colors which works great for "refreshing" the Color or if you did not use enough color initially, the stain will fix that. Great Product!

The mortar mix itself was white and I used the entire container of New Look cement color with a single 55 lb. bag of mortar. I don't think they have any guidelines on the instructions as to how much to use which I would have liked. I mixed it into the mortar with a paddle mixer before I added water - this gave me a very uniform distribution of color once I added water. The only issue I have with the product is that the resulting color has a bit too much of an orange tint to it. The actual product has an orange tint to it but i thought it might change once mixed. The product worked great, but I'm giving it 4/5 stars because I think they should not call this "Tan".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good results at much lower concentration Gave me a nice tan color with a tone similar to the slumpstone block we have around. I mixed at 1/2 lb per two 60 lb sacks of quickcrete. The best way I found to get an even color was to start the mixer, add about 1/2 the water, then the color, then the concrete, then enough water to get the texture right. It would be very pricey at full strength, but pretty economical at this concentration.
